Peter Hewat's last minute try earned London Irish the bonus point they needed to reach the quarter-finals of the Heineken Cup by winning Benetton Treviso 24-11 at the Stadio Communale Di Monigo.

Irish raced into a 19-0 lead, but after the interval the Italian champions began to peg them back, although they lacked the cutting edge to punish London's nerves.

The scrappy victory saw The Exiles reach the knock-out stages for the first time in the clubs history, qualifying for the knock-out stages as top seeds and ensuring a home quarter-final.
