Peter Crouch has completed his move to Portsmouth for a fee believed to exceed £11m. The England international striker has left Liverpool in search of regular first-team football after three seasons on Merseyside. This is his second spell on the south coast having scored 19 goals in 39 games for Pompey in 2001-2.

"It's fantastic to be back and the club is going places," Crouch said on reuniting with Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp, who he played for during his previous spell at the club and when at Southampton in 2004-05. ''I've worked here before and he gets best out of me. The best is still to come in my career and it will be here at Portsmouth.

"They have built a good side and there have been big changes. The club is unrecognisable to the last time I was here. It is a very strong side which can compete against anyone. The club is moving forward," added the 27 year-old, who underwent a medical this morning before being officially as a Portsmouth player.

Another set to leave Liverpool is midfielder Danny Guthrie, who is discussing personal terms with Newcastle after Liverpool agreed a fee for the academy player. Guthrie spent last season on loan at Bolton.
