Mike Pollitt, the Wigan back-up goalkeeper, has agreed a new one-year deal at the JJB Stadium. The 36-year-old made one Premier League appearance last season due to the form and fitness of Chris Kirkland but has been tempted to stay by manager Steve Bruce.

"Polly's a terrific goalkeeper and I'd have no hesitation in playing him in any game," said Bruce. Wigan also have a third senior goalkeeper on their books in Carlo Nash.
