Hull have signed the Manchester United striker Manucho on loan for the rest of the season. The Angolan has made one Premier League appearance for United, who let him spend part of last season on loan to the Greek side Panathinaikos.
Hull have not yet secured a work permit for the 25-year-old but hope they will be able to achieve that before tomorrow's match against Arsenal at the KC Stadium.
The Tigers are also hoping to complete the signing of the former Liverpool right-back Steve Finnan from Espanyol. However, that deal is unlikely to be finalised today.
Hull's manager, Phil Brown, said the club would have to be completely satisfied about Finnan's fitness.
"It is a long way from being complete," said Brown. "He has been injured and I think he has only played four games for Espanyol, which is a concern of ours, hence the reason he has undergone a medical to the extent he has. We are pulling out all the stops. We are making sure we are doing this one properly."
Of Manucho, Brown said: "The lad is a proven goalscorer at certain levels, though not yet at Premier League level. He [has] great stature, he has a good eye for goal, and is certainly good aerially."
