The Macclesfield Town manager Keith Alexander has been given the all-clear to return to work after undergoing a brain scan at the weekend.

Alexander, who suffered a brain aneurysm in 2003 when manager of Lincoln City, complained of feeling unwell before Saturday's home defeat by Bournemouth and was taken to hospital as a precautionary measure.

However, after several scans and tests Alexander was given a clean bill of health and put the scare down to a bug doing the rounds at Moss Rose.

"Perhaps I shouldn't have come into work that day, but my generation just goes to work, no matter what. You get on with it and don't make excuses," he told the Macclesfield Express. "My wife wasn't very happy with me but the good news is that I am perfectly well, really perfectly well and have been given a complete all-clear."
