Graeme Dott, the World Championship runner-up to Neil Robertson on Monday, has terminated his representation contract with Pat Mooney, who manages John Higgins.
Higgins and Mooney were caught in a Sunday newspaper sting, apparently agreeing to fix the outcome of frames in future tournaments in return for £261,000. Mooney has resigned from the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association board and Higgins faces disciplinary action following inquiries now being made on its behalf by a former detective chief superintendent, David Douglas, who has been co-opted to the board.
The affair also spells the end for the World Series, founded by Mooney and Higgins to promote independent events in developing snooker countries but which was due next season to be taken under the umbrella of the WPBSA. Barry Hearn, its chairman, has stated that there will be no future dealings with Mooney and that the four tournaments that he was to co-promote with the association will be replaced by four others.
The future of the players' union, the Snooker Players' Association, founded by Mooney, is now unclear.
