Leicester may not know until Thursday whether their director of rugby, Richard Cockerill, will be charged with bringing the game into disrepute for his behaviour during the semi-final play-off against Bath at Welford Road earlier this month which prompted his club to be careful about the way he conducted himself during a game.

Cockerill was reported to have shouted advice at the match officials during the game as well as kicking a partition in front of him.

His opposite number for Saturday's Premiership final against Saracens, Brendan Venter, is banned from attending the match after being given a 14-week matchday ban for making inappropriate gestures and remarks to Leicester supporters during his club's victory at Welford Road earlier this month.

Venter's appeal against the ban will be heard tomorrow evening. The RFU has not ruled out holding Cockerill's hearing before Saturday, even if a decision to charge him is not made until Thursday morning, which would raise the prospect of the directors of rugby of both clubs being ordered to stay away from the biggest game of the season.
