Jean de Villiers has re-signed for Western Province a year after he left to join Irish side Munster.
Details of the deal have not been disclosed, but the South Africa centre is set to resume his career with the Cape Town franchise, who are known as the Stormers in Super 14 competition, with immediate effect.
The 29-year-old left the country in September last season to play in Europe, where he signed an initial one-year contract with a two-year option to renew. However, he has decided not to remain at Thomond Park and will join another Springbok, CJ van der Linde, at Newlands.
Prop Van der Linde, though, will only join Western Province in November after already agreeing to play for the Cheetahs in the domestic Currie Cup following his return from another Irish team, Leinster. He has signed a one-year deal.
A statement on the Cape union's website said: "Jean de Villiers rejoins WP Rugby for the balance of the 2010 season, and the 2011 season. CJ van der Linde will join WP Rugby after the completion of the 2010 Absa Currie Cup and will be under contract for the 2011 season."
Managing director Rob Wagner also confirmed that fly-half Peter Grant has been released on loan to play in Japan until the end of the year.
He said: "Peter is not part of the Springbok group and he felt he wanted a chance to recharge his batteries, taste a new environment and obviously earn some extra cash, and [coach] Rassie [Erasmus] also confirmed that was amenable to his request.
"Peter will however be back for the start of the build-up to the Super 15 so he is not lost to us at all. He is still very much part of our plans."
The union also confirmed that Fijian winger Sireli Naqelevuki will leave after his contract ended, while promising full-back, Joe Pietersen, one of the stand-out players in this season's Super 14, has requested an early release to play in France. However, he will only be released subject to transfer terms being agreed.
