Arturo Vidal has said in Italy that he is not going to sign for Manchester United. The Chilean midfielder, who has just returned from a break after the World Cup, was faced with quick-fire questions upon his arrival at Turin airport.

“I am still on my holidays,” he told Sky Sports Italia. “I don’t know if I am staying at Juventus at the moment. I have not spoken to Allegri or my team-mates yet. On Monday I will speak to the manager [Massimiliano Allegri] and then we will see. I am happy here and I am calm at the moment and I think the fans of Juventus should be as well.”

He was then asked whether he would be joining Manchester United. He laughed and said: “No, no.”

Vidal was a target of the former United manager, David Moyes, and remained on the list retained by United for Louis van Gaal, his successor, to consider.

However, the Dutchman recently informed the club executive that he was not currently interested in the 27-year-old but other clubs are monitoring his situation.
