Keith Hackett's verdict
1) It's best to exercise some common sense here. By the letter of the law if a team-mate is inside the area when the ball is struck you have to order a retake – but in this case it was not a deliberate act, and there's no way he could have reached any rebound first, given that he was flat on his face. So ignore this accidental slip and award the goal. Leonard Clark wins the shirt.
2) The right thing to do here is to withdraw your services and seek more medical advice, having requested that the senior assistant or the fourth official takes over. It is vital that any form of head injury is properly assessed – you should never take any risks. As for the bizarre decisions – if one or both of the teams appeal, it will be up to the authorities to decide if the game needs to be replayed or any cards rescinded. Thanks to Colin Startup.
3) Goal – for three reasons: a) The boot does not count as an "outside agent", which would mean you'd have to intervene. This was an accident during normal play. b) It's clearly far from guaranteed that the defender could have prevented the goal. And c) The striker did not endanger himself by playing the ball without his boot because he was not being tackled at the time. Given all that, it would be very harsh to rule this goal out. Thanks to Jason Chau.
