Adelaide United will continue the defence of their FFA Cup crown with a tricky last-16 fixture against fellow A-League club Sydney FC.

Having easily dispatched Darwin Olympic, 6-1, in the last round, Adelaide can expect an altogether tougher test from Graham Arnold’s side, who themselves were comfortable 2-0 winners over Sorrento FC in the round of 32.

Another all-top-flight tie will see Melbourne City take on Wellington Phoenix, while A-League champions Melbourne Victory, who beat Balmain Tigers in the round of 32, will travel to Sydney again to take on Rockdale City Suns.

Other Sydney clubs were kept apart with Sydney United drawn at Heidelberg Magic, Sydney Olympic to play at Hume City and Western Sydney Wanderers to make the trip north to face Palm Beach Sharks.

Rounding off the draw, Metrostars will meet Oakleigh Cannons and Lions FC face a tough fixture against A-League outfit Perth Glory.

Exact venues and dates are to be determined, although the first round of games will be played on 25 or 26 August.

Adelaide United v Sydney FC

Melbourne City v Wellington Phoenix

Heidelberg Magic v Sydney United
