Bastian Schweinsteiger is a doubt for Manchester United’s visit to Everton on Saturday week after suffering a thigh injury during the warm-up for Germany’s 1-0 defeat by the Republic of Ireland on Thursday evening.
Before the match the DFB’s official Twitter account said: “@BSchweinsteiger picked up an injury during the pre-match warm-up and will miss the game.”
The Germany coach, Joachim Löw, said the seriousness of the 31-year-old’s problem will be come clearer over the coming days: “For Schweinsteiger I will need to see. [Medical staff] said two or three days rest.”
Germany’s loss means they require a point against Georgia to secure qualification for Euro 2016.
