Let’s leave it there. And go here instead.

Those FA Cup games have reached their conclusion:

  • Accrington 2-2 Mansfield (Mansfield win 3-1 on penalties)

  • Fleetwood 2-2 Luton (Fleetwood win 4-2 on penalties)

  • Wigan 2-2 Barrow (Wigan win 4-3 on pens)

  • Stockport 0-0 Cambridge (Cambridge win 5-4 on pens)

Questions to be raised on Ewood Park’s drainage and/or the effects of global warming.

Kieran McKintosh gets in touch: “Also feeling the jitters, but trying to be optimistic since we are still (technically) top with half a season to go. That has to count for something.

“I think this Christmas is going to tell us a hell of a lot about what the Arsenal are made of. We don’t have too bad a run this season, I think it is feasible that we will remain top, but it depends a lot on not throwing away winnable games such as Everton away or Villa and Brighton at home. Do what we did against Chelsea or Liverpool in playing for a draw and it’s top 4 for us.

“We also must, must, must go to the Vitality and get all three points come New Year’s Day. I know Bournemouth look a little different this year, but we cannot forget last year.

“That said, we were almost unlucky to lose against Villa with three of four centre backs out. One of whom is scheduled to return, at the very least, against Wolves next week. Some of our fanbase really need to remember that. The league isn’t done yet. Not even close. But we have to pay extremely close attention and get some wins on the board, or it will be in a month’s time.”

Drew Goldie gets in touch, and as an Arsenal fan, he’s not feeling the jitters. Oh no: “How do you know that the emails people send in aren’t fake? Maybe, of course, it doesn’t matter - it just makes the story. Print the legend, not the truth. It keeps the fires burning, I suppose, at a very low level. In every sense.

“But why would an Arsenal fan email in to say they have the jitters? Either they’re not much of an Arsenal fan (if at all), or it’s a hoax. Either way, I don’t think you should be publishing it - though as I say, perhaps the Guardian needs the interactivity.”

Xavi Simons had a big day: “It feels really good. I’m really happy to win the three points and step-by-step we are working to bring that to the fans.”

“When I received the ball I said to myself, just go. I know I am quite fast with the ball so I saw some space and I went to it.”

A delighted Thierno Barry spoke to the BBC: ““Today I feel very happy, I can’t stop smiling because I scored today. Before today, I knew I could score - in the last home game I scored, but VAR ruled it out. I went down before the goal, but I knew I had to stay on the pitch and 10 minutes later I scored.”

Some key quotes, firstly from Thomas Frank: “I am happy with so many things. I think it was a very good performance overall. A quite complete performance. Offensively we looked a big threat going forwards. We were much more dynamic and producing good chances and good moments. I really like that. Also the defensive side of things, we kept them to four shots throughout the game. It was a really good performance. The fans were amazing from the off and the players were thriving off them. To have that complete collaboration together, I really loved that. It was a great win.”

As it stands, we could have four FA Cup penalty shootouts from the second round.

Louise Taylor was at St James’ Park.

Jacob Steinberg was at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Harry Kane, Die Mensch-Maschine, on the mark again, another hat-trick

Full-time: Newcastle 2-1 Burnley

Burnley almost scored with the last touch. Josh Laurent and Zian Flemming were queued up to score and Laurent missed it. The ten men almost came back. At least Newcastle got to see Yoane Wissa play for a bit. That should have been an easier win against ten men.

Full-time: Everton 3-0 Nottingham Forest

Sean Dyche’s return didn’t go well, his first visit to the Hill Dickinson as forgettable as his team’s performance. That’s four wins from five for David Moyes, with Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall as the star man.

Full-time: Tottenham 2-0 Brentford

Thomas Frank was not haunted by his old club, and Xavi Simons turned on the style and showed off his teeth. Important win for Spurs, no boos this time.

Updated

Goal! Newcastle 2-1 Burnley (Flemming, 90+4)

Jacob Ramsey committed a handball, and Zian Flemming scores what will surely be a consolation goal.

Full-time: Manchester City 3-0 Sunderland

A seventh straight home win and City are on the title chase. Sunderland had Luke O’Nien sent off in the closing seconds. Rayan Cherki’s rabona takes the cake, and will be a highlight to look for.

Full-time: Bournemouth 0-0 Chelsea

First time since August that Chelsea have failed to score; they did better than against Leeds. A decent performance from Bournemouth, and a decent point.

Bournemouth 0-0 Chelsea

In added time, not long left, neither team looking too inspired as they both hunt a winner. This feels like a stalemate all the way. Neither team at it at all.

Ipswich now lead Coventry 3-0, a big result at the top of the Championship. QPR have extended their lead over West Brom.

Chelmsford City 0-2 Weston-Super-Mare is an FA Cup score, while Cheltenham now lead Buxton 6-2. The lads from the Peak District have had a weston in the second half.

Bournemouth 0-0 Chelsea

Five minutes to break the deadlock for either team. Reece James fouls Adli, out of some desperation.

Gursimran Grewal gets in touch: “As an Arsenal fan, I’m very much feeling the jitters. Might be me being very pessimistic but this feels like the usual Arsenal collapse around the end of the year and City marching on right past us.”

Bournemouth 0-0 Chelsea

It’s 88 minutes in, and Enzo Maresca isn’t happy as his team concede possession. Andoni Iraola will see this as a decent point. There’s been wayward shooting from both teams.

Chris Nottingham gets in touch: “Quaresma more known as a trivela icon I would suggest. See David Dunn for all time classic rabona.”

Quaresma had it in his locker.

Oh Dunny.

Chris Paraskevas gets in touch: “Great to see Newcastle’s “wew” number 9 finally making his debut... been a long time coming and some welcome competition up front for King Woltemade. Do you think he’ll be “putting himself about” in the immortal style of Mick Harford / Duncan Ferguson (when he could be bothered) or is the game completely gone?”

He means Yoane Wissa, of course.

Mary Waltz gets in touch: “After consecutive relegation battles I tap the live tables and see Everton one point out of a Champion League spot. Unbelievable!”

Goal! Everton 3-0 Nottingham Forest (Dewsbury-Hall, 80)

Dewsbury-Hall scores his third goal in four. Again, a fine signing by Everton, a very clever player. Chelsea never quite saw the best of him.

Updated

West Brom have a goal back at QPR, who still lead 2-1.

Blackburn v Sheffield Wednesday abandoned

The second half was delayed by a waterlogged pitch, but the game has been ruled unplayable. It was 0-0.

Tottenham 2-0 Brentford

Spurs had the ball in the net for a possible third, but Mohamed Kudus has been ruled offside. Kelleher has also made a save from Kudus.

Newcastle 2-0 Burnley

At long last, on comes Yoane Wissa for Newcastle, a debut delayed since he got an injury on international duty at the start of September.

Bournemouth 0-0 Chelsea

Enzo Maresca has pressed the Estevao button; such riches off the bench. This game still in the balance.

FA Cup: Cheltenham 4-2 Buxton now, Buxton have lost their spring. Swindon beating Bolton 2-0 is a triumph of League Two over the higher division.

Manchester City 3-0 Sunderland

That Foden goal, by the way, was set up by a rabona from Rayan Cherki. Erik Lamela, Ricardo Quaresma, eat your heart out.

The Bundesliga table looks, well, a bit unfair.

Harry Kane has a hat-trick, for Bayern against Stuttgart. Enter Kari Tulinius: “As a Stuttgart fan I’m not unused to watching my team get trounced by Bayern, an experience familiar to fans of all Bundesliga teams. However, this 5 goal thrashing feels even more aggravating than usual, because the Bavarians haven’t played particularly well. Even at two-nil it felt like the Schwabians would come back. Ah well, luckily this will fade into a melange of memories of losing to Bayern.”

It’s finished 5-0.

Everton 2-0 Nottingham Forest

James Tarkowski makes a goalline clearance to spare Jordan Pickford’s blushes after Everton’s keeper makes a mess of a punch.

QPR are now 2-0 up on West Brom. Adam Timmins enters the chat: “That’s Ryan Mason done I’m afraid. It might take the club a few games to pull the trigger, but his goose is cooked.”

Goal! Manchester City 3-0 Sunderland (Foden, 66)

Rayan Cherki, who has been superb today, sets up the latest Foden goal in his recent revival. That will take City on to the shoulder of Arsenal. whose fans must be getting the jitters.

Sad news from Charlton, following that abandonment of their lunchtime game with Portsmouth.

Club statement: “The club are devastated to report that a Charlton Athletic supporter has died following a medical emergency during today’s game at The Valley against Portsmouth.

“The match was halted in the 12th minute while the supporter received treatment and was subsequently postponed. The club would like to thank the Charlton staff and first responders who did everything they could, but sadly the supporter later passed away in hospital.

“The club are grateful to supporters in attendance and the Portsmouth players and staff for their patience and understanding as this tragedy unfolded. Everyone at the club sends their heartfelt condolences to the supporter’s family and friends at this incredibly difficult time.”

Manchester City 0-0 Sunderland

Sunderland have found a bit more time on the ball, and continue to impress. They have shown no fear of opponents this season. Oddly, I saw them a fortnight ago and they were awful against Fulham but have then resumed being good.

Burnley have hit the bar, Aaron Ramsdale having a flap at a ball from Lucas Pires.

We are go in the Premier League...

The five 3pms have kicked off.

Louise Taylor is at Newcastle v Burnley.

“Despite the intermittent heavy showers Scott Parker has just walked across the pitch modelling a designer jumper of such Italianesque style that even Sandro Tonali, incidentally one of Parker’s midfield successors here, cast an apparently admiring glance in the Burnley manager’s direction.

“Tonali is still recovering from the knock he sustained against Spurs in mid week and begins on the bench as Eddie Howe, an ex Burnley manager, showcases a new look midfield featuring the lesser spotted Jacob Ramsey plus Joe Willock and Bruno Guimaraes.

“Joelinton is on the bench, where he is joined by Yoane Wissa. Newcastle fans hope Wissa will finallly make that long awaited , much delayed, debut today. Meanwhile there’s a recall for Fabian Schar in central defence while Dan Burn shifts to left back.

“It seems like only yesterday that they were playing in front of Martin Dubravka but the former Newcastle goalkeeper returns in Burnley colours today and still has not forgiven Howe for dropping him last season immediately after persuading him to sign a new contract and pull out of a move to Saudi Arabia at the 11th hour.”

He is one of six changes that Enzo Maresca has made from the defeat at Leeds in midweek. Andrey Santos, one of those to drop out of the XI, has been out warming up with the rest of the starting players. Either Maresca has a fitness doubt in his XI or I’m reading too much into that.

”Bournemouth make four changes from their loss to Everton here on Tuesday. They may switch to a back three, with two right-backs – Álex Jiménez and Adam Smith – in the XI. We’ve had sunshine, rain and wind during the warm-up and now a rainbow. It’s all very pleasant.”

Here’s our Friday digest of team news and other news from the Premier League.

WSL scoreline: Arsenal 2-1 Liverpool

Stina Blackstenius got the late winner for the Gunners.

Huge game today for Thomas Frank, facing Brentford with Tottenham today. The draw at Newcastle, last minute though it was, calmed some of the storm but a repeat of last week’s display against Fulham and the home fans will be in uproar.

And in the Premier League, Leandro Trossard, who came on at half-time has levelled for Arsenal at Aston Villa.

Elsewhere in the Championship, crisis club Leicester are leading 3-0 at Derby.
