West Ham are preparing an opening offer for the Wolves striker Jørgen Strand Larsen as they look to boost their survival hopes.
Nuno Espírito Santo, whose side are at major risk of relegation, wants attacking reinforcements during the January transfer window and has identified Strand Larsen as a priority target. It is believed that Wolves want as much as £40m for the Norwegian, who has scored only three goals for the Premier League’s bottom club this season.
It remains to be seen if West Ham, who are set to loan the Germany striker Niclas Füllkrug to Milan, are prepared to meet the asking price for Strand Larsen. The 25-year-old impressed after joining Wolves from Celta Vigo in 2024, scoring 14 goals last season, a tally that drew interest from Newcastle in the summer. However Strand Larsen has found it tougher this season and has been unable to help Wolves move away from the relegation zone.
West Ham, who are languishing in 18th, believe signing a new striker is key to their hopes of staying up. Nuno has also looked at the Coventry duo Ellis Simms and Haji Wright. There is interest in the Viktoria Plzen striker Rafiu Durosinmi but it is understood Nuno wants players with experience of English football.
West Ham’s only natural forward option at the moment is Callum Wilson. Nuno has used Jarrod Bowen and Crysencio Summerville as central strikers in recent games. The West Ham manager wants a new defender but an attempt to sign Manchester City’s Nathan Aké on loan has failed. The Dutchman is not interested in a move to the London Stadium.
West Ham are also pushing to complete a deal for Fulham’s Adama Traoré. The winger, who played for Nuno at Wolves, is out of favour at Craven Cottage and is out of contract at the end of the season
