That is all from me this evening. I leave you with Sophie Downey’s match report at Den Dreef and Tom Garry’s roundup of the rest of the games.

Lucy Bronze speaks to Disney+ after Chelsea came from behind to win 2-1:

You put the work in now in the first half of the season and I think it saves you a little bit in the second half. It was definitely a tough game today, one of our hardest in the Champions League. Coming here to Wolfsburg has never been easy.

Someone said it is the first time an English team has actually won here. So that’s a good record to have finally cracked. Overall a really tough game. Both teams went really strong until the end and it was quite enjoyable to play in.

Here is a closer look at which teams may face each other before confrimation in tomorrow’s draw.

Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United advance in boost to English sides

It has turned into a memorable night for all three English sides and their combined finishing positions are just about as high as could realistically have been hoped for before kick-off, not least because Real Madrid dropped points.

It means Arsenal and Manchester United will be the top seeds for the playoff round, and that would have been a dream scenario for Manchester United at the start of the night. In their debut European campaign, they now have a magnificent chance of reaching the last eight, as they will avoid the big-guns in the playoffs.

Chelsea’s third-placed finish, thanks to Sam Kerr’s 20th Champions League goal, means they will not only avoid the playoffs but they will also avoid facing either Barcelona and OL Lyonnes before the semi-finals at the earliest. That is a huge boost for Sonia Bompastor’s side.

Here is Beth Mead speaking to Disney+ after Arsenal’s 3-0 victory:

We know Leuven are a really hard team to break down so it’s nice to get goals. Really nice. We could’ve been a bit more clinical but happy to get the three goals.

You get a lot of touches on the ball and for me individually I love doing that so it was a nice game to be part of.

I was happy with my performance, happy to get the goal, played well and got the win. I know we have finished fifth so that has put us in a good position moving forwards.

Schedule: The playoffs are scheduled for 10-12 and 17-19 February and the quarter-finals will begin in March.

Barcelona, OL Lyonnes, Chelsea and Bayern Munich are straight into the quarter-finals. Arsenal, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus, Wolfsburg, Paris FC, Atlético Madrid and Leuven are in the playoffs. Vålerenga, Roma, Twente, Benfica, PSG and St. Pölten are eliminated.

Full-time scores

Wolfsburg 1-2 Chelsea
Juventus 0-1 Manchester United
OH Leuven 0-3 Arsenal
Paris FC 0-2 Barcelona
OL Lyonnes 4-0 Atlético Madrid
Twente 1-1 Real Madrid
Benfica 1-1 Paris Saint-Germain
Bayern 3-0 Vålerenga
Roma 6-1 St. Pölten

Wolfsburg 1-2 Chelsea: Peng just manages to tip away a cross that hits the post! Wolfsburg are pushing for an equaliser … and from the corner they hit the crossbar. So close!

Wolfsburg 1-2 Chelsea: Alexandra Popp has a shot blocked … by Lucy Bronze’s face. It was a tough whack and the defender is getting treatment. Before the physios do their concussion checks Popp makes sure to come over and make sure Bronze is OK.

Wolfsburg 1-2 Chelsea: Alexandra Popp rises in commanding fashion to nod a header down inside a crowded penalty area. But Livia Peng this time claims the ball.

Juventus 0-1 Manchester United: Lia Wälti’s volley goes wide from Estela Carbonell’s corner.

Minutes later, United feel they deserve a penalty after Elisabeth Terland is fouled by Cecilia Salvai. Seemed pretty clear to me but no VAR intervention after the referee fails to give it.

Leuven 0-3 Arsenal: Mead almost gets her second but sends her low strike wide of the far post.

Roma 5-0 St. Pölten: The Italian side are cruising to victory with a hat-trick from Evelyne Viens. It still won’t be enough to get them to the knockouts though.

Updated

Juventus 0-1 Manchester United: The hosts are ramping up the pressure now but their play in the final third has been disappointing.

GOAL! Leuven 0-3 Arsenal (Saar Janssen 69og)

Caitlin Foord’s low cross into box and Sar Janssen simply turns it into her own net. VAR checks if Foord was offside and the goal is given.

Updated

GOAL! Wolfsburg 1-2 Chelsea (Kerr 64)

A deadly header from Sam Kerr! Chelsea come from behind to lead after the striker does well to steer a cross in the far post. That is her third goal in five games in this competition and it takes Chelsea to third in the table.

Updated

Wolfsburg 1-1 Chelsea: Erin Cuthbert and Alyssa Thompson collide and the former stays down. Wolfsburg continue play though, stepping around Cuthbert and very nearly scoring seconds later. Chelsea would not have been happy if that gone in.

Updated

Wolfsburg 1-1 Chelsea: Huge block from Stina Johannes to deny an onrushing Erin Cuthbert! Chelsea have been the better side in this second half so far and are pushing for a second.

OL Lyonnes 3-0 Atlético Madrid: The hosts hit two in just over a minute! Wendie Renard slots a penalty home after sending Lola Gallardo the wrong way. And then Kadidiatou Diani finds the third.

Updated

Paris FC 0-2 Barcelona: Vicky López turns from goalscorer to provider as she lays it off to Caroline Graham Hansen, who takes a touch before her low shot.

Twente 1-0 Real Madrid: Twenty-two seconds after the restart the hosts are ahead after a pinpoint cross from Alieke Tuin finds Jaimy Ravensbergen to head home.

As it stands: Barcelona, OL Lyonnes, Bayern Munich and Chelsea are in the top four. Arsenal and Manchester United are in fifth and sixth and Real Madrid and Juventus round out the seeded playoff places. Wolfsburg, Paris FC, Atlético Madrid and Leuven are in the unseeded spots.

We are back underway across the grounds.

Juventus 0-1 Manchester United
OH Leuven 0-2 Arsenal
Paris FC 0-1 Barcelona
OL Lyonnes 1-0 Atlético Madrid
Twente 0-0 Real Madrid
Benfica 1-1 Paris Saint-Germain
Bayern 2-0 Vålerenga
Roma 2-0 St. Pölten

GOAL! Wolfsburg 1-1 Chelsea (Bronze 45)

Lucy Bronze manages to rid herself of a few green shirts to head home an equaliser from a corner just on the brink of half-time.

Just like that Wolfsburg go from fourth to ninth in the table. They are surely going to regret some of those earlier chances.

Updated

Juventus 0-1 Manchester United: Jess Park has been running the show in Turin. Not only did she score the sole goal so far but she has been crucial in breaking up play.

Wolfsburg 1-0 Chelsea: The hosts are all over Chelsea and Lucy Bronze has saved her side twice with a couple of last-ditch blocks to keep them in it.

OL Lyonnes 1-0 Atlético Madrid: Lots happening here. Kadidiatou Diani skips past two defenders before her fizzing ball into the box. Vilde Bøe Risa stretches out to block it, but it deflects past Lola Gallardo and into the back of the net.

A few minutes later, Luany is sent off after pulling the hair of Selma Bacha.

Updated

Wolfsburg 1-0 Chelsea: Kerr comes close again! She rushes to get on the end of a cross and looks sure to tap it in to an open goal but somehow, Camilla Küver comes from behind and puts off the striker.

Paris FC 0-1 Barcelona: Alexia Putellas starts off a nice team goal before Clàudia Pina finds Vicky López, who scores her eighth goal of the season.

GOAL! Leuven 0-2 Arsenal (Mead 27)

Arsenal double their lead in Belgium with a classy finish from Beth Mead, her third goal in six matches. Alessia Russo sprays a pass to Mead, who cuts inside before whipping in a curling finish into the far corner. No chance for the keeper.

Updated

As it stands: Barcelona, OL Lyonnes, Bayern Munich and Wolfsburg are in the top four. Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea are in fifth, sixth and seventh respectively.

Wolfsburg 1-0 Chelsea: The visitors with their best chance of the game from Kerr, but she can’t find enough power for a finish as she is tackled right before taking the shot.

Roma 1-0 St. Pölten: Rinsola Babajide picks up a loose ball before releasing Alayah Pilgrim, who slots the ball under the onrushing keeper.

GOAL! Juventus 0-1 Manchester United (Park 18)

The goal rush continues and what a shot from Jess Park. She takes two touches before arrowing the ball at the far post from the edge of the box.

Updated

GOAL! Leuven 0-1 Arsenal (Smith 18)

Olivia Smith weaves her way in from the left between some white shirts. Her first go is saved but she reacts quickly and tucks the rebound into the top corner.

Updated

GOAL! Wolfsburg 1-0 Chelsea (Popp 16)

Popp takes advantage of a poor ball clearance to give her side a lead! Livia Peng’s ball out is poor and Popp easily rolls Keira Walsh before scoring a quick half-volley. Fantastic goal!

Just like that Wolfsburg leap over Chelsea in the table and are in the top four.

Updated

Wolfsburg 0-0 Chelsea: Alex Popp leaps over Lucy Bronze for a cross but her header is wide!

Juventus 0-0 Manchester United: The hosts are defending very high up the pitch, giving United a bit of space in behind to attack.

Bayern Munich 2-0 Vålerenga: The hosts double their lead after Stine Ballisager curls a fine effort around from the edge of the box.

Wolfsburg 0-0 Chelsea: It has been scrappy at Wolfsburg so far. Millie Bright gets booked for an unnecessary tackle on Kessya Bussy.

Leuven 0-0 Arsenal: Close! Olivia Smith floats a great cross for Alessia Russo at the far post, but the header is straight at the keeper.

Benfica 0-1 PSG: Jennifer Echegini wins the ball back and speeds forward. She finds some space with a drop of the shoulder before scoring with a low shot from the edge of the box.

Updated

Twente 0-0 Real Madrid: The visitors had the ball in the back of the net but it has been disallowed by VAR for an offside in the buildup.

Bayern Munich 1-0 Vålerenga: An early goal in Munich! Jovana Damnjanović’s effort is blocked but the ball lands at the feet of Franziska Kett, who lays it off to Momoko Tanikawa and she slides it home.

Updated

Leuven 0-0 Arsenal: We have a sold-out crowd at Den Dreef which is a new record attendance for Belgian women’s football. Plenty of noise from the home support and the travelling Arsenal crowd have a lot to compete with.

Kick-offs across the grounds

The referees blow their whistles across Europe and we are underway!

Kick-off is fast approaching. Here is a reminder to all nine games that I will be (attempting) to keep tabs on.

Wolfsburg v Chelsea
Juventus v Manchester United
OH Leuven v Arsenal
Paris FC v Barcelona
OL Lyonnes v Atlético Madrid
Twente v Real Madrid
Benfica v Paris Saint-Germain
Bayern v Vålerenga
Roma v St. Pölten

Manchester United have already bettered their best season in Europe, having failed to qualify last season and reaching the second round of qualifying in 2023-24.

Marc Skinner’s side are unlikely to land in an automatic quarter-final spot but three points against Juventus today would be crucial in their hopes of securing a seeded place in the knockout playoffs.

Chelsea sit third in the table going into the final game. Last year’s semi-finalists are two points behind Barcelona and Lyon, both on 13 points.

Sonia Bompastor’s side are unbeaten in the competition and have only conceded two goals (in draws with Twente and Barcelona). They are in pole position to finish in one of the automatic qualification spots regardless of their result today against the two-time champions and last year’s quarter-finalists Wolfsburg.

Arsenal are the defending Champions League winners but it has not always looked like it. Currently in eighth, Renée Slegers’ team is heading for the playoff round, barring a miracle. They will be the heavy favourites at Leuven but unless rivals slip up, the reward for beating the Belgian team is likely to be only a more favourable seeding.

One potential outcome would be facing Leuven again in the round of 16 rather than tougher potential opponents like United or Paris FC.
