Hill insists Bristol will come out all guns blazing against Bath

Round-up: Bristol's Richard Hill says his team will not be daunted by their European Challenge Cup draw against local rivals Bath.

Bristol's head coach Richard Hill believes his Guinness Premiership leaders will not be daunted by the prospect of a European Challenge Cup quarter-final clash against his former club Bath. The West Country derby dominates the draw for the last eight which features four English clubs, two French challengers and one each from Scotland and Wales.

While Bristol head to the Recreation Ground in late March, the tournament favourites Clermont Auvergne host Newcastle, Glasgow visit Saracens and the Newport-Gwent Dragons host 1997 Heineken Cup winners Brive.

Bristol, who qualified as Pool One runners-up, have beaten Bath twice in the Premiership and once in the EDF Energy Cup this season. Hill said: "The players will not be under pressure in the quarter-finals just because they are away. The players feel comfortable playing away from home. There is no obsession with playing away. We've won at Bath, Sale and London Irish this season."

Bath needed a bonus-point success against Montpellier to secure a home quarter-final from Pool Four, and they delivered as two Michael Stephenson tries underpinned a 42-17 triumph.

Bath head coach Steve Meehan said: "We haven't been looking at this tournament in terms of trophies, but I'd love to see the players win it. They have worked very hard and been bridesmaids too many times."

Saracens won at Vicarage Road in October, but Glasgow ground out a 6-6 draw on home soil two days ago, suggesting the Premiership club will not have things entirely their own way.

Newcastle face an away tie against Clermont after securing one of three best runner-up spots by crushing the Italian side Petrarca Padova 50-6.

The Dragons, who booked a quarter-final place after beating Bayonne, clinched fourth seeding after Brive failed to collect a bonus point in beating Montauban.
