Leicester yesterday confirmed that Toby Flood will join them from Newcastle this summer. The 22-year-old, who is tipped to take the No10 shirt at Welford Road but can also play at inside-centre, will link up with the Tigers after returning from England's tour of New Zealand.

Flood, who has 17 caps, follows the flanker Ben Woods as the second player to move from Kingston Park to Leicester since the end of the domestic season.

The scrum-half Luke Burgess and wing Peter Hynes will make their Test debuts for Australia against Ireland in Melbourne on Saturday. The new Wallabies coach, Robbie Deans, has also named uncapped Ryan Cross and Dean Mumm on the bench.
