Robinson’s extra-time

Rugby union: England skipper Jason Robinson could prolong his career by turning out for the Babas in December.

Jason Robinson is expected to end his playing career when he pulls on a Barbarians shirt for a match against South Africa at Twickenham on December 1. The England wing, who has already played his last club game for Sale, had planned to retire after returning from the World Cup with England in October but he is one of five players named by the invitation club ahead of their first meeting with the Springboks at Twickenham for 37 years.

The Ireland captain, Brian O'Driscoll, the Australian backs Matt Giteau and Chris Latham and the New Zealand flanker Jerry Collins are the others pencilled in to face South Africa. The Barbarians side will be coached by Ireland's Eddie O'Sullivan.
