Scotland may move Six Nations matches away from Murrayfield if next month's experiment of playing Tests at other venues is successful.
The Scottish Rugby Union has struggled to sell out some Six Nations matches at Murrayfield in recent years and Matt Williams' side will meet Australia at Glasgow's Hampden Park and Japan at Perth's McDiarmid Park in an attempt to attract a new audience.
"Playing at Murrayfield can be a barrier to people attending matches, so moving games north to Perth and west to Glasgow will take international rugby to the people," said the SRU's head of marketing Alasdair Russell. "We will review the autumn series and study the reaction from supporters as we look to make the sport more accessible.
"Murrayfield, though, will always be the dominant home of Scottish rugby. There is something special about the ground, but that is not to say we would not look at taking future matches, including ones in the Six Nations, away if it met our business needs."
Wasps' uncapped open-side flanker Johnny O'Connor has been included in Ireland's squad for next month's Tests against South Africa, the United States and Argentina.
The Ulster wing Tommy Bowe and Munster flanker Denis Leamy, who are also uncapped, join O'Connor in the squad. O'Connor is likely to play against South Africa on November 13 because Lein ster's Keith Gleeson and London Irish's Kieron Dawson are injured and Munster's David Wallace is out of favour.
The experienced Canterbury half-backs Justin Marshall and Andrew Mehrtens have been left out of the New Zealand squad to face Italy, Wales and France. Daniel Carter, who has previously played as a centre, is likely to play at outside-half while the coach, Graham Henry, looks at younger players.
"Guys like Mehrtens and Marshall may face the Lions next year but they have passed 30 and they are not long-term prospects for the All Blacks," said Henry. "The next year is going to be huge."
Henry, who coached the 2001 Lions in Australia, has one year left on his contract and will need to improve on this year's disappointing showing in the Tri-Nations if he is to take the side to the next World Cup.
South Africa have included six uncapped players in their squad to face Wales, Ireland, England and Scotland. Meanwhile the South Africa-based Scotland international Roland Reid has signed for London Irish, easing their injury problems in the back row.
