Lewis Moody has become the latest name to be added to England's World Cup charge-sheet after it emerged he is under investigation for wearing a branded mouthguard.

According to the Daily Mail, television pictures of the England captain in action against France are being studied by the International Rugby Board, which will fine Moody NZ$10,000 (£4,974) if it finds his mouthguard to be carrying advertising. Martin Johnson's squad are currently en route to the UK.

The IRB has already fined Moody's team-mate, Manu Tuilagi, for a similar transgression, while Tuilagi was on Sunday cautioned by Auckland police and fined £3,000 for jumping off a ferry.

An IRB spokesperson said: "There appears to be a breach of the Team Kit Specifications. We will be examining the tape of the match and appropriate action will be taken. All the competing sides know the rules surrounding branded mouthguards."
