Bath maintained their challenge for a place in the next round of the Heineken Cup when they came from behind to win 15–12 at Rodney Parade against the Newport Gwent Dragons.

A try from Joe Maddock and a penalty from Butch James had given Bath an 8–0 lead at the interval.

But the Dragons, with nothing to play for at the bottom of Pool Five, forced their way back into the match when Richard Fussell went over for a try that James Arlidge converted. Things got worse for Bath when Wayne Evans touched down to give Newport a surprise lead.

The lock forward Stewart Hooper came to the rescue, however, running in the try that restored Bath's lead and James's conversion made it 15–12.

Bath now face a decisive meeting with Toulouse at the Recreation Ground on Sunday.
