Sale lock Sébastien Chabal will wait until the Six Nations championship has finished before announcing which club he will be playing for next season.
The France international was thought to be close to signing for Racing Metro, who look likely to be promoted into the Top 14 for next season, but is keeping his options open.
It could be another month before Chabal, who is definitely leaving Sale this summer, decides where his future lies.
"Regarding his future, he will make his decision after the Six Nations," Sale boss Philippe Saint-Andre told French newspaper La Provence. At the moment, Sébastien is simply preparing to play against England in the Six Nations."
Chabal, who has featured in France's opening three matches of the Six Nations, is also believed to be a target of Toulon, the team Saint-Andre will take charge of in the summer.
It was announced yesterday that Lionel Faure, another of Sale's France internationals, would be joining Clermont-Auvergne for next season.
Jason White, Luke McAlister and Sébastien Bruno will also quit the Sharks at the end of the campaign.
