Danny Cipriani says he will give his complete support to the England Saxons this summer although he is "massively disappointed" at missing out on a place in the senior squad. The coach Martin Johnson will not announce the squads for either side until Tuesday, but Leicester's Sam Vesty is expected to make the senior side at the expense of Cipriani.

The Wasps fly-half was demoted to the Saxons during the Six Nations and although he remains on the standby list for England and the Lions, he will travel to Denver for the Churchill Cup while the first-string side take on Argentina.

"I will do my very best for the Saxons and am looking forward to joining up with them, but I can't pretend that I am not massively disappointed," Cipriani said.

"I am totally dedicated to wearing the England shirt and to go out and do whatever they want me to do. They have told me to go out and show that I can lead a side and also that I need to get in some game time. I will keep myself very fit, do my best with the Saxons and be ready [for the Lions] if needed."

England play the Barbarians at Twickenham on 30 May before facing the Pumas at Old Trafford on 6 June and then in Argentina a week later. The Churchill Cup features the USA, Canada and Georgia plus the second teams from England, Argentina and Ireland.
