Luke Shaw is hopeful of being available for Manchester United’s next match, QPR’s visit on Sunday-week, following a hamstring injury.
Shaw, 19, has been ruled out since playing the second half of United’s penultimate tour match against Real Madrid on 2 August. On the US tour Louis van Gaal had described Shaw as unfit and this was echoed by Roy Hodgson, the England manager, last week.
However this claim from Hodgson moved Van Gaal to describe Shaw as “an example” to the rest of his squad as the defender had done everything asked of the Dutchman to attain optimum fitness.
If Shaw is available he could line up in the new-look United that should also feature Radamel Falcao, who has agreed a loan deal, and Angel di María, the club’s headline summer signing.
