Phil Jones will have the hamstring he injured in England’s 2-0 win over Switzerland examined on Tuesday when the Manchester United defender returns to the club to determine how serious the problem may be.
Louis van Gaal will hope Jones can be available for Sunday’s visit of Queens Park Rangers to Old Trafford as the manager seeks for the first win of his tenure at the fifth attempt.
Jones, who was among England’s best players in a fine display from Roy Hodgson’s team in the Euro 2016 qualifier, pulled up during the second half of the win in Basel.
Jones had to be replaced by Phil Jagielka on 77 minutes with him shaking his head in disappointment.
