The young Manchester United right-back Guillermo Varela has joined Real Madrid’s Castilla squad on loan for the rest of the season.

Varela, who was David Moyes’s first signing when the Scot took over United in the summer of 2013, will now work under the Castilla coach Zinedine Zidane.

The Uruguayan, who played at the Under-20 World Cup in 2013, follows Javier Hernández to Madrid – the striker having signed a season-long loan deal on transfer deadline day.
