European football: talking points from La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga and Ligue 1

Our European football experts are back, each with five talking points ahead of this weekend’s Bundesliga, La Liga, Serie A and Ligue 1 action

Serie A expert James Horncastle is back to evaluate Rafa Benítez’s prospects of staying in the job at Napoli after a poor run of form. Following a busy set of midweek fixtures, Juventus keep on firing at home while Fernando Torres excites for AC Milan, and there’s an intriguing derby to look forward to.
Andy Brassell dissects Cristiano Ronaldo’s four goals for Real Madrid this week before taking a look at the return of the Galician derby. It took Levante 406 minutes but they have finally scored a goal, while it was a feisty affair between Málaga and Barcelona.
PSG put an end to their run of draws with a victory despite having no Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the lineup. French football expert Julien Laurens also takes a look at Lyon’s young guns, Marseille’s unstoppable form and Evian’s first win of the campaign.
After a busy week in the Bundesliga, Raphael Honigstein returns to preview the 145th Ruhr derby between Borussia Dortmund and Schalke while he analyses Bayern Munich’s win over SC Paderborn which saw them return to the top of the table. Jens Lehmann could be returning to the Bundesliga - not as a player of course - while Hamburg look to finally break their goal drought.
