Leicester's Heineken Cup victory may have secured the long-term future of the club at their Welford Road ground.
Talks have been going on for 18 months over the former Granby Halls site next to the ground, where Leicester want to build a £7m, 6,000-seat grandstand. They had warned that they would con sider leaving the city if their plans were not approved as part of a £15m revamp of the ground to increase capacity from 16,000 to 20,000.
A proposal for the Tigers to move into Leicester City's old Filbert Street ground was quickly discounted. But now their success over Munster appears to have swung council support behind the club.
