This weekend’s games

September 28: A preview of this weekends Zurich Premiership games.

Bristol v Leicester

Kick-off 3pm tomorrow

Venue Memorial Stadium

Last year Bristol 38 Leicester 21

Last five matches Brist: LLLLL Leic: LLWLW

Bristol may have beaten the Tigers twice in a fortnight last May but the champions, defeated on two away games this season, cranked into ominous form last weekend. The full-back Jamie Williams is Bristol's latest casualty with a knee ligament injury and Lee Best will move to No15 for the only team to lose all four league games. Austin Healey's injury should not hamper Tigers.

London Irish v Wasps

Kick-off 3pm tomorrow

Venue Madejski Stadium

Last year London Irish 31 Wasps 17

Last five matches L Irish: LLLWL Wasps: WLWDW

Wasps, short of real depth in their squad, are finding their feet while Irish are a shadow of last year's side. The Exiles make five changes to the side beaten at Quins with Pieter Rossouw dropping out while Rob Howley returns at scrum-half for the visitors after breaking a finger at Bath. Games on Reading's wide-open pitch are usually high-scoring but the boots of Barry Everitt and Alex King may decide a tight game.

Newcastle v Leeds

Kick-off 2.30pm tomorrow

Venue Kingston Park

Last year Newcastle 19 Leeds 8

Last five matches Newc: LWLLL Leeds: LWWWD

These are fraught times on Tyneside with the Falcons caving in at Leicester and a lot resting on the shoulders of young captain Jonny Wilkinson who is joined in the midfield by brother Mark. Unbeaten Leeds have been the surprise of the season. Tom Palmer plays his 100th game in the second row and Dan Hyde is back at flanker after suspension.

Ian Malin

Bath v Gloucester

Kick-off 2.15pm today

Venue Recreation Ground

Last year Bath 12 Gloucester 9

Last five matches Bath: LWLDL Glouc: WWWWW

Gloucester have never beaten Bath in 11 league attempts at the Rec. But the league leaders, who scored 68 points when these teams last met, will never have a better chance of stopping the rot. Bath have failed to score a try in three of four Premiership outings while the cash-strapped Cherry and Whites are finding rich pickings on the field. Bath need Mike Catt at fly-half to feed backs living on scraps.

Saracens v Northampton

Kick-off 2pm today

Venue Vicarage Road

TV Sky Sports 3, 1.30pm

Last year Saracens 25 Northampton 20

Last five matches Sara: LWWLL North: LLWWW

For Saracens at least it cannot get worse than last Sunday's horror show at Wasps. Kyran Bracken and Thomas Castaignède are two star names warming the bench, the 19-year-old University of Hertfordshire student Ryan Peacey, at blind-side flanker, and on-loan prop Andy Kershaw two new faces. Mark Connors moves to No8 for Saints.
