Gloucester Rugby Supporters Association chairman Bob Rumble has indicated that he is willing to accept Rob Andrew's apology for his accusations of racism against Gloucester hooker Olivier Azam and the Kingsholm supporters.

Newcastle director of rugby Andrew was forced into a climbdown and apologised after he was threatened with legal action over comments he made following the Zurich Premiership clash between the two clubs on 29 December.

Andrew alleged that Azam had racially abused Newcastle's Tongan back-row Epi Taione on more than one occasion during the game and that Taione was then insulted by the Gloucester supporters after he was sent off along with the French front-row. However, a Rugby Football Union investigation at the beginning of April found there was insufficient evidence to back up Andrew's claims.

It is believed that Andrew has agreed to meet all the GRSA's legal fees after the latest in a number of controversial incidents to surround the man who was seen as a squeaky-clean member of the England squad during his playing days.
