The former Manchester United and Aston Villa striker Dion Dublin has been unveiled as a new presenter for the BBC’s daytime property series Homes Under the Hammer.

Dublin, praised for his “infectious enthusiasm for property”, will join original presenters Martin Roberts and Lucy Alexander on the 19th series, following properties bought at auction as they are renovated and then sold.

Dublin, who has worked as a pundit, released a Christmas album and invented a new percussion instrument called The Dube since retiring as a player, said: “I am thrilled to be joining Martin and Lucy on Homes Under The Hammer. I have a passion for property and look forward to meeting people on the show who share that passion.”

Lisa Hazlehurst, executive producer for Lion Television Scotland, said: “Dion’s enthusiasm for property is infectious and we’re really excited he is joining Homes Under The Hammer, which has proved such a hit with audiences for more than a decade.”
