Javier Hernández has told his agent it would be impossible to turn down Real Madrid should they make a permanent offer to take him to the Bernabéu.

According to AS, Real have an option to buy the on-loan striker for €10m (£7.2m) from Manchester United. “You can’t say no” to Real, Hernández is said to have told his representatives.

The Mexican forward known as Chicharito arrived on loan in September in a deal that cost Real €2.5m plus €3m for half of his salary. His United contract expires in 2016.

Following his starring role in the midweek Champions League victory over Atlético Madrid, when he scored the only goal of the two-legged quarter-final, he said: “One of my goals is to continue working with Madrid. You have to live in the present. I do not know what can happen from here until a month from now.”

He is likely to get another rare start at Celta Vigo on Sunday in the continued absence of the first-choice centre-forward, Karim Benzema.

The Frenchman has returned to his home town of Lyon as he tries to recover from the sprained knee ligament suffered in the first leg against Atlético. He is due to meet a knee specialist, the doctor Bertrand Sonnery-Cottet, in the hope of making the Champions League semi-finals at the start of May.
