The Manchester United target Ilkay Gündogan has admitted he is in negotiations with Barcelona but reports in Germany have stated the midfielder is now unlikely to join Bayern Munich.
The 24-year-old has just one year of his contract with Borussia Dortmund remaining and United have been linked with a move for the playmaker, who made 23 Bundesliga appearances for Dortmund this season.
Barcelona have also been tracking Gündogan’s performances and he has now confirmed that talks are ongoing with the Spanish champions.
“Yes, we are negotiating. I have not taken any decision yet but I’m open to all possibilities. We do not know where I will play,” he was quoted as saying in Spanish newspaper Marca.
Bayern’s interest in Gündogan appears to have cooled, however, with a report in the German newspaper Bild on Tuesday stating that they are no longer in talks.
