Courtney Lawes looks set to miss the rest of the Six Nations with a leg injury sustained during England training in Loughborough this week. Specialists have ordered the Northampton forward to rest amid concerns he may have a hairline fracture of his inflamed right tibia.

Lawes, who featured as a replacement against Wales at Twickenham, will undergo further scans but his club say he may be sidelined for "a number of weeks."

England's interim head coach, Stuart Lancaster, was more circumspect. "It's unfortunate for Courtney as he had just really got back into training with us. But we have to listen to expert medical opinion and if that means he has to keep the weight off his right leg to help him recover then we have to respect that."

The No8 Ben Morgan has also been omitted from the Scarlets' lineup to face Connacht because of a calf strain which, according to his club, was also suffered during England training this week.
