Thank you for joining me for this Women’s Champions League clockwatch this evening. Chelsea were dominant against Roma, OL Lyonnes displayed why they are eight-time winners and there was a nailbiter between Atletico Madrid and Bayern Munich. Here’s a round-up of the action from all five matches today, including the two earlier kick-offs:
Ewa Pajor (pictured) was on target for Barcelona in a 3-1 home win over Benfica that all but guarantees their place in the Women's Champions League quarter-finals.
Pajor opened the scoring just before the half four – her 15th in 16 appearances in the tournament's group or league phase. According to Uefa, only Chelsea striker Kerr has more at this stage of the Champions League, with 16 goals.
Chandra Davidson equalized for Benfica just after half-time, but two goals in the space of four minutes effectively sealed the win for Barcelona. Christy Ucheibe turned Alexia Putellas' cross into her own net in the 54th minute, and Laia Aleixandri forced the ball home to make it 3-1.
There was still time for Barça to win a penalty, but Benfica keeper Lena Pauels saved well to deny Putellas. Victory means Barcelona top the league phase with one game to go, three points clear of Real Madrid in fifth and Juventus in sixth, with a vastly superior goal difference.
Twelve teams advance from the league phase, with the top four going straight to the quarter-finals and the other eight sides entering playoffs. Paris FC, who host Barça in their final game, boosted their hopes of a playoff place as a late Lorena Azzaro penalty at Vålerenga, who had Karina Saevik was sent off.
Bayern Munich sit fourth after battling to a 2-2 draw at Atlético Madrid. The hosts started well and took the lead through Vilde Bøe Risa's penalty, with Giulia Gwinn missing a spot kick for the visitors.
Pernille Harder levelled just after the hour and then volleyed Bayern in front with 12 minutes to go, but Fiamma's stunning late strike crashed in off the bar to earn Atlético a point and all but assure them of a playoff place. AP/Guardian sport
And below are two reports of the later kick-offs. We will be back with Champions League action next week, see you soon.
Here is the Chelsea report as they blew away Roma 6-0:
Significant gap in quality tonight between OL Lyonnes and Man Utd - who didn’t manage a shot on target here. The French side look like very strong contenders this season. If Dumornay keeps her current form going throughout 2026... Ballon d’Or? She’s on a different level.
A good read while you wait for the match reports to drop from this evening’s matches:
With the penultimate round of league phase games now over, the top four who automatically qualify for the knockout are Barcelona, OL Lyonnes, Chelsea and Bayern Munich. That order could change come the final round of matches though which are taking place on 17th December.
Full time: Atletico Madrid 2-2 Bayern Munich
Well Pernille Harder had thought she had not only equalised but scored the winner with two goals following an early penalty but Fiamma Benitez scored late on to ensure they came away with a point.
Michael Robinson has emailed:
I agree that it’s an issue that United and Chelsea have a lot of empty seats tonight. But from a United point of view, that’s entirely down to the club. The PSG game at old Trafford had a good turnout, but all the subsequent games have been at Leigh, which is quite simply miles away. I can be tucked up in bed at 10:30 after a night game at OT, but you’re talking nearer 11:30 for LSV which is something I can’t be doing on a school night.
An even bigger issue for me though is the games being on yet another streaming platform. I’m forced to watch flipping city and follow United on the text commentary which is infuriating.
I do know a number of fans who are frustrated that the UWCL has been moved to Disney +. And it is a fair point about the crowd but it’s still a disappointing sight when the game has such a high quality.
Full time: Man Utd 0-3 OL Lyonnes
Manchester United’s game against Juventus in the last round of league matches now becomes all the more important after this result but the eight-time winners OL Lyonnes showed their prowees is a clinical outing. Deserved winners.
Man Utd 0-3 OL Lyonnes, 90 + 4 min: The visitors are having some great game management here as they close down a pretty impressive performance.
Full time: Chelsea 6-0 Roma
Well that is quite the response after Chelsea lost their first game of the season against Everton last week. An absolute demolition job at Stamford Bridge which puts the Blues third in the table as things stand.
In the closing minutes Atletico manage to snatch one back, deserved on the balance of things.
GOAL! Atletico Madrid 2-2 Bayern Munich (Benitez 89)
Late drama!
Diani makes a great run who crosses in and Dumornay takes a one-touch finish. Five mintues added at Leigh Sports Village.
GOAL! Man Utd 0-3 OL Lyonnes (Dumornay 90)
Another cracking goal.
Chelsea 6-0 Roma, 90 min: Roma win a corner and look for a consolation. They take it short and it comes in but it’s well defended. Three added minutes at Stamford Bridge.
Man Utd 0-2 OL Lyonnes, 88 min: OL Lyonnes are just a different beast in this competition. Yes they haven’t won it for a few years but that doesn’t mean they are any easier to play against, they haven’t given United an inch.
Bronze looked as though she was going to cross it but seeing Lukasova a little off of her line went for it herself and it went in.
GOAL! Chelsea 6-0 Roma (Bronze 87)
That was a beauty.
Man Utd 0-2 OL Lyonnes, 85 min: United fans may be frustrated with this performance but the last time OL Lyonnes lost in this stage of the competition was in 2022.
Chelsea 5-0 Roma, 85 min: The Blues have continued their relentless tirade but are yet to hit the net again. They do have time to make it six though.
Harder has to be one of the best players of this generation. What an effort from the Denmark star.
GOAL! Atletico Madrid 1-2 Bayern Munich (Harder, 78)
She is at it again.
The forward is just outside of the box, goes to run left, goes right and absolutely wallops it in.
GOAL! Man Utd 0-2 OL Lyonnes (Dumornay 81)
A screamer.
Updated
Man Utd 0-1 OL Lyonnes, 81 min: Diani makes a great run down the right and crosses in but Le Tissier is there to see it clear.
Chelsea 5-0 Roma, 81 min: Roma’s performances this season have been so underwhelming. Rushed attack, frantic defence and huge scorelines. Tonight is no different.
Man Utd 0-1 OL Lyonnes, 78 min: Brand pokes a ball across the face of goal but no one is there to make the finishing touch, if they were that was a sure goal with Tullis-Joyce out of position.
A long ball finds Reiten who passes to Hamano who made a great run.
GOAL! Chelsea 5-0 Roma (Hamano 77)
Sorry Roma, slight commentators curse there.
Updated
Chelsea 4-0 Roma, 76 min: Chelsea’s press has slowed in the last few minutes, Roma have seen more of the ball but they are yet to create a real chance. The result, though anything could happen, is practically wrapped up and Chelsea’s performance right now is showing that.
Man Utd 0-1 OL Lyonnes, 74 min: United win a corner as their attack starts to trouble OL Lyonnes a little. It’s the hosts’ first corner of the evening but it’s easily defended.
Man Utd 0-1 OL Lyonnes, 72 min: United are winning the ball back in good positions but they just cannot execute the final passes. Rolfo finds Malard on the edge of the box in their latest bid for a goal but she is muscled off of the ball.
Chelsea 4-0 Roma, 71 min: Roma are just having no joy in possession and it shows as Pilgrim is off for Pante as the visitors try and get on the board at Stamford Bridge.
Man Utd 0-1 OL Lyonnes, 69 min: Malard starts a great attack but it ends with Engler collecitng the ball from a Riviere cross. The hosts need to show more of that in these closing 20 minutes if they want anything from this match.
Man Utd 0-1 OL Lyonnes, 67 min: Those substitutes have now been made for the visitors with Schrader also entering the pitch, to boos from United supporters.
Harder is such a crucial player for Bayern Munich and she comes good again as she converts the pressure the German club have been putting their opponents under.
GOAL! Atletico Madrid 1-1 Bayern Munich (Harder 63)
Who else?
Chelsea 4-0 Roma, 67 min: Peng gets her first touch in a long time as a long range ball comes in but she deals with it well and Chelsea set another attack.
Man Utd 0-1 OL Lyonnes, 64 min: I cannot imagine what it must be like to be a tiring United side and see the likes of Katoto and Diani warming up. They will be entering the fray soon.
Chelsea 4-0 Roma, 64 min: Another amazing save from Lukasova. She has conceded a lot tonight but she has also saved her team on a few occasions, this time from a looping ball from Potter.
Man Utd 0-1 OL Lyonnes, 62 min: Hegerberg gets a shot in but it’s wide, she has been kept quite quiet in this encounter – the lead scorer in the Women’s Champions League.
Chelsea 4-0 Roma, 62 min: Chelsea have made a change with Kaneryd off for Jean-Francois. The perfect game for a lot of rotation with such a big lead for the Blues.
Man Utd 0-1 OL Lyonnes, 59 min: Damaris is on the ground with an issue which she needs medical treatment for. United fans boo her but she will need to sit out for 30 seconds after the treatment, it didn’t look like something that would see her unable to continue. She is back to her feet now and yes she will stay on.
Man Utd 0-1 OL Lyonnes, 58 min: Toone finds Rolfo, who feeds Sandberg but her cross has too much on it for it to become a real chance.
Chelsea 4-0 Roma, 58 min: The Blues are not letting up despite their lead, though their latest move ends with the offside flag being raised.
Atletico Madrid 1-0 BayernMunich, 53 min: Bayern Munich are continually knocking on the door but Atletico are having a great performance to maintain their lead.
Man Utd 0-1 OL Lyonnes, 54 min: If you are getting confused by the timings on the different games, they kicked off at slightly different times in the second half. Anyway back to the action, OL Lyonnes remain in control and do not look troubled by United despite their good start to this second half.
Chelsea 4-0 Roma, 54 min: What a cracking save from Lukasova as Chelsea looked certain to be scoring a fifth goal. She made herself big and halted that attack, great response after conceding the penalty.
Man Utd 0-1 OL Lyonnes, 51 min: United are looking more promising in this half and Toone has been a bright spark but she is found to be offside in their latest attack.
It was a stuttered run by Nusken and Lukasova went the right way but it sneaks into the bottom left corner.
PENALTY! Chelsea 4-0 Roma (Nusken 51)
Well taken.

Penalty given to Chelsea
VAR pulled up the decision and sent the referee over to the screen. The decision is then given for the Blues.
Chelsea 3-0 Roma, 49 min: Hang on, they are now checking this for a potential penalty.
Chelsea 3-0 Roma, 48 min: There was a question of whether Chelsea would get a penalty but Nusken instead is found to have fouled Pandini.
Chelsea 3-0 Roma, 47 min: Roma with the lionshare of possession early on at Stamford Bridge in this second half.
Man Utd 0-1 OL Lyonnes, 45 min: United have also made changes with Zigiotti, Park and Toone on for the hosts.

The German club are yet to find a way back into this game after Vilde Boe Risa’s early penalty after a handball in the box. Can they level it? All to come in the second half.
Half time: Man Utd 0-1 OL Lyonnes
So far the difference is that clinical take by Tabitha Chawinga but United have responded well, the hosts just need more chances in front of goal.
Updated
Half-time: Chelsea 3-0 Roma
Chelsea are in the front seat and driving towards three points with goals from Wieke Kaptein and Johanna Rytting Kaneryd and an own goal by Bergamaschi.
The ball was initially saved but it comes out and Johanna Rytting Kaneryd benefits.
GOAL! Chelsea 3-0 Roma (Kaneryd 44)
The ball pinballs around but it is eventually in by JRK.

Man Utd 0-1 OL Lyonnes, 43 min: Naalsund, who has to be careful as she is already on a yellow card, puts in a foul and the visitors have another free kick. Bacha’s delivery again is good but the header from Tarciane is wide.
Chelsea 2-0 Roma, 41 min: The Blues are driving this fixture completely, toying with Roma as a cat does a mouse at the moment. Even out of possession they look comfortable.
Man Utd 0-1 OL Lyonnes, 40 min: My goodness, United make a break and Miyazawa pops in a beautiful cross but Malard puts it over the bar.
Man Utd 0-1 OL Lyonnes, 40 min: OL Lyonnes have another corner and but Bacha’s delivery wasn’t her best. United were then loose at the back and the visitors almost pounce but they get away with it.
Man Utd 0-1 OL Lyonnes, 38 min: The French side continue to dominate this game with United showing glimpses of what they can do but it is always thwarted in the middle third.
Chelsea 2-0 Roma, 36 min: Chelsea are a touch away from making it 3-0 with a Baltimore cross eventually scrambled away by Roma. The Blues continue to press for another, potentially wanting to put right their loss against Everton last weekend.
Man Utd 0-1 OL Lyonnes, 35 min: What is disappointing this evening are the crowd numbers. It is a midweek game but at Leigh Sports Village and Stamford Bridge there are plenty of empty seats.
Chelsea 2-0 Roma, 33 min: Macario sends a great ball into the area which is met by Kerr but her header is over the bar.
Man Utd 0-1 OL Lyonnes, 33 min: A free kick is given the way of OL Lyonnes after a Le Tissier foul but the fans do not agree with the decision with boos raining down onto the pitch. The French side take it quickly but they run it all the way back to their keeper.
Man Utd 0-1 OL Lyonnes, 31 min: The hosts have not faded in this game but they are just not creating anything in front of goal, the visitors firmly in control of this encounter.
Chelsea 2-0 Roma, 29 min: That goal will be frustrating for Roma as although Chelsea had the momentum, the Italian club were forcing the Blues into errors and halting their front foot ball. A difficult rest of the evening for the visitors now.
Man Utd 0-1 OL Lyonnes, 28 min: Tullis-Joyce has gone down with what looks like a calf injury but she is back to her feet after receiving some treatment.
GOAL! Chelsea 2-0 Roma (Kaptein 26)
After mounting pressure Chelsea find the back of the net once again, it’s a one-touch finish.

Man Utd 0-1 OL Lyonnes, 26 min: Brand is tripped by Awujo and so she wins a free kick in a good position. It is a great delivery from Bacha and it heads to the far post but no one is there to turn it goalward.
Man Utd 0-1 OL Lyonnes, 24 min: United set up a counter attack but the chance is wasted with Naalsund’s long pass having too much on it.
Chelsea 1-0 Roma, 22 min: Babajide does well to win a corner from Charles with Giugliano the taker. The delivery isn’t the best but it does take scrambled defence to clear it.
Man Utd 0-1 OL Lyonnes, 20 min: Riviere concedes another corner and she takes a hit to the back for her troubles but she is okay to play on. Bacha is the taker again but the eventual shot from Engen is wide.
Chelsea 1-0 Roma, 19 min: Pandini takes a knock from Peng, who comes out of her goal to defend the chance but no foul is committed and the Roma player is okay to continue.
Man Utd 0-1 OL Lyonnes, 17 min: United have responded well to conceding, despite the French club continually peppering their goal with shots. They really need to be tight defensively now, another goal would be a mountain to climb for United.
Bergamaschi was running back towards her own goal and accidentally heads in a cross into her own goal.
GOAL! Chelsea 1-0 Roma (Bergamaschi OG 13)
So many goals happening at once.

Catch up on all the latest WSL action with the women’s football weekly podcast where Chelsea lost their first domestic game under Sonia Bompastor:
The Manchester United manager Marc Skinner said Jayde Riviere can become the world’s leading right-back, as he threw praise on the Canada international during Tuesday’s pre-match press conference.
Riviere, who is set to go head-to-head with the in-form OL Lyonnes winger Tabitha Chawinga here at Leigh Sports Village tonight, has become a key player for Manchester United this term and Skinner said: “Jayde has the capacity to be one of the, if not the, best right-back in the world. The next part of Jayde’s growth is just that consistency of being able to do it on a weekly basis. And I think she’s such an expressive full-back, it’s hard to keep doing that.
“When she’s electric, honestly, nobody can live with her. So I’m really looking forward to her growth. But I also understand the natural curve of somebody’s performances and how they grow. So she’s in really good form and I’m looking forward to the extra development she’ll make throughout these next few seasons.”
Here’s a piece on OL Lyonnes, the opponents of Manchester United this evening and eight-time champions in this competition:
The Manchester United head coach, Marc Skinner, has hailed OL Lyonnes as Europe’s best team but urged his side to take the game to the eight-time European champions in Leigh on Wednesday.
Skinner’s team are a point behind the French club in the Women’s Champions League table after winning three of their first four matches in their debut campaign at this stage of the competition, meaning they have secured at least a knockout-phase playoff spot.
Both sides hope to finish in the top four to progress automatically to the quarter-finals, and Skinner said: “We’re playing the best team in Europe. I know Barcelona are up there as well, but Lyon have the capacity to be the best team in Europe, so we’re going to need them [the fans], and what I want Lyon to feel tomorrow is the force that Manchester United are and can become.
“Lyon have the ability to create something from nothing in any moment of the game. We have to concentrate and be at our very best. If we defend for the whole game, Lyon will win.”
He added: “We can’t just sit off them. We’ve got to be very respectful of that. We must attack. We’re at home and we look forward to trying to give ourselves that quality going forward too.”
The other English club and the defending champions Arsenal played yesterday. They faced a resolute FC Twente, find out how they got on:
