Sigurdsson’s sending off: Speaking on BBC Wales, Hartson suggests Swansea might appeal against Sigurdsson’s dismissal in an attempt to have it overturned. Looking at a replay, he suggests it was no more than a yellow card offence. He might well be right. Thanks for your time and have a good weekend. I’ll be back later with minute-by-minute coverage of Liverpool v Bolton Wanderers.

Man of the match: Shane Duffy has been awarded the bubbly after an immense display in the heart of Blackburn’s defence. Special mention also to Josh King, whose searing pace and industriousness caused all sorts of problems for Swansea’s defence. For the vanquished side, nobody in particular impressed. “He’s been doing a lot of talking off the pitch, now he has to start doing some talking on it,” says John Hartson of Bafetimbi Gomis, who spent the afternoon in Duffy’s pocket before being hooked after 77 min.
Full time: Blackburn Rovers 3-1 Swansea City
Peep! Peep! Peeeeeeeeeep! It’s all over. Championship side Blackburn have beaten Premier League outfit Swansea City to advance to the fifth round of the FA Cup. Goals from Chris Taylor, Rudy Gestede and Chris Conway did the damage after Kyle Bartley was sent off in the sixth minute. Having scored Swansea’s only goal - and a beauty it was too - to make it 1-1, Gylfi Sigurdsson was also dismissed in injury-time, after kicking out in frustration at Chris Taylor. It’s been an afternoon to forget for Swansea, who had a very bad day at the office.

RED CARD FOR GYLFI SIGURDSSON!
90+1 min: Things go from bad to worse for Swansea City. Gylfi Sigurdsson gets sent off for a late kick on Chris Taylor in a challenge that was so late he had zero chance of getting the ball. They’re 3-1 down and reduced to nine men.

GOAL! Blackburn 3-1 Swansea City (Conway 89)
Oh Lucasz! Craig Conway tests Fabianski with a dipping shot from distance. The goalkeeper attempts to save at his near post, but doesn’t get down quick enough. The ball hits his elbow and squirms over the line. That’s game, set and match to Blackburn.
Updated
88 min: Nathan Dyer got booked a couple of minutes ago, by the way, for a late challenge on ... somebody or other.
86 min: Angel Rangel plays Jordan Rhodes onside on the edge of the Swansea penalty area. The striker dithers over the ball, torn between turning and shooting and playing it wide to Gestede. In the end he opts for the latter option, but undercooks his pass.
85 min: Monetero picks out Sigurdsson in the Blackburn penalty area, but Blackburn;s defenders swarm around the midfielder and give him no room to turn or pick out a team-mate.
82 min: Swansea threaten with a driving run from Gylfi Sigurdsson, who picks out Angle Rangel with a fine pass into the penalty area. Shane Duffy saves Blackburn with a perfectly timed and decidedly robust challenge.
79 min: Swansea’s defending was little short of despicable for that goal! Despicable, I tells ya! Their manager Garry Monk will be furious. Blackburn had a corner, which they took short as Swansea’s players looked on a left them to it. The ball was crossed into the mixer by Marcus Olsson and Gestede won the header and knocked it downwards from about six yards. With Swansea’s defenders still dozing, the ball ricocheted off one of them and bounced back to Gestede, who made no mistake as he hooked it past Jonjo Shelvey and Lucasz Fabianski.

GOAL! Blackburn 2-1 Swansea (Gestede 78)
Rudy Gestede takes advantage of hideous Swansea defending to hook the ball home from close range after a corner. The home side are ahead and the upset is on.
Updated
77 min: Swansea substitution: Bafetimbi Gomis goes off after a poor showing in what may have been his final appearance for Swansea.
76 min: Blackburn substitution: David Dunn has picked up a calf injury and makes way for Jordan Rhodes.
73 min: Montero cuts in from the left flank and attempts to pick out Gomis, standing with his back to goal and surrounded by defenders, with a pass along the deck. His delivery is over-hit and wayward. Blackburn clear.
69 min: Blackburn win a free-kick about 35 yards from the Swansea goal. Tom Cairney’s delivery is good and Matthew Kilgallon sends the ball goalwards with a flick of his head. Lucasz Fabianski gets down to make the save.
Updated
68 min: Once again, Duffy stands his ground and robs Gomis of the ball as Swansea surge forward. He’s been immense today, making Gomis look very ordinary in the process. With several clubs rumoured to be sniffing around the Frenchman, who’s been complaining about the lack of starts he gets at Swansea, you could have been forgiven for expecting him to put on a show this afternoon.
66 min: Chris Taylor turns Gylfi Sigurdsson with some nifty footwork just inside the Swansea half and advances up the field. A promising attack breaks down, Swansea embark on the counter-attack and, not for the first time this afternoon, Blackburn defender Shane Duffy gets the better of Bafetimbi Gomis.
63 min: Craig conway crosses into the Swansea penalty area, attempting to pick out Gestede. Under pressure from Jordi Amat, the striker takes his eye of the ball and fails to make contact. That was a decent chance.
62 min: Swansea substitution: Modou Barrow off, Jefferson Montero on. Garry Monk brings on a speed-merchant of his own, to give the Ecuadorian his FA Cup debut.
60 min: Blackburn substitution: Gestede on, Josh King off. Another strange decision from Gary Bowyer. King’s been superb for Rovers. Personally, I’d have brought somebody else off, jigged things around and left him on to continue wreaking havoc, with Gestede in support.
Updated
58 min: Swansea City win a corner as Blackburn prepare to send on Rudy Gestede. The ball’s played to Gomis at the near post, but his effort to sweep it goalwards on the half-volley is blocked by Matthew Kilgallon.
56 min: Making his FA Cup debut, Argentina international and Swansea substitute Federico Fernandez shows his class and finesse with an agricultural clearance that may well have cleared the stand. He’s looked impressive since coming on, although he is one of several Swansea defenders to have been embarrassed by Josh King’s turn of foot.
55 min: Blackburn goalscorer Chris Taylor tries an ambitious shot from distance, but fires high and wide.
51 min: Good lord. My thanks to my colleagues Ian McCourt and Gregg Bakowski for bringing this to my attention.

47 min: Oof! Josh King turns on the after-burners again and whizzes past Angel Rangel to get in behind the Swansea defence. His delivery is poor - from the byeline he fires his cross straight into the arms of Lucasz Fabianski.
47 min: Angel Rangel plays an excellent ball over the top for Bafetimbi Gomis, who has failed to impress thus far in his enforced role as leader of the line. On this occasion, the Frenchman brings it down well and shuffles sideways to make room for a shot from inside the penalty area, only to be thwarted by a splendid block from Shane Duffy.
Second half: Blackburn get the second half under way, with no changes on either side. Swansea have been down to 10 men since the sixth minute. One suspects neither team will fancy a replay.
Half-time punditry: Former Norwich City and Wales star Iwan Roberts is doing the match analysis alongside John Hartson for BBC Wales and is sporting one of those very thick hipster beard-and-Channel 4 spectacles combos that have become so trendy. Hartson is also rocking a beard, but his is more old school. They’re both decent pundits, in my opinion. Hartson is generally excellent: enthusiastic, balance and fair, but never afraid to criticise when he thinks its warranted. Worryingly, Roberts is also wearing a leather jacket that looks remarkably similar to one I own. Does that make me a hipster too?
Half-time: Kyle Bartley saw red after just six minutes, but despite going down to 10 men, Swansea took the lead courtesy of a wonderful long-range strike from Gylfi Sigurdsson. Blackburn took just 90 seconds to restore parity, with Chris Taylor responding with a very tidy finish indeed.
45+2 min: Dunn moves forward with the ball, picking out Chris Taylor on the right. He attempts to advance, but is relieved of possession. The referee checks his watch and whistles for half-time.
45 min: Swansea attack down the left, with Jordi Amat releasing Dwight Tiendalli with a wonderfully weighted ball. With Bafetimbi Gomis unmarked just inside the penalty area, Tiendalli picks him out with a low, inch-perfect cross. The Frenchman swishes a bit too casually with his left foot, makes scuffed contact and sends the ball well of the target. That’s a poor effort.
44 min: Blackburn win a corner. Tom Cairney sends it into the Swansea penalty area, where Lucasz Fabianski charges off his line to claim it, before punting a clearance aimed for Nathan Dyer into Row Z of the stand.
Updated
42 min: Blackburn substitution: Lee Williamson goes off with what looks like an eye injury and a bearded David Dunn replaces him. Hopefully Williamson’s eye issues are nothing too serious - he doesn’t look particularly distressed, but the physio is treating a watery eye.
39 min: Jonjo Shelvey miscontrols to gift Blackburn a throw-in deep in Swansea territory. Nothing comes of it, the ball is cleared up the field and the referee promptly blows his whistle after spotting some off-the-ball handbags between Shelvey and Conway, after Dwight Tiendelli had gone down injured. Shelvey needs to be careful - he’s just back from a four-match ban.
37 min: Jason Lowe wins possession for Blackburn in midfield and plays the ball wide to Craig Conway. Play is switched to the left flank, where Angel Rangel puts it out for a throw-in.
34 min: Despite being down to 10 men, Swansea City have enjoyed 60% of the possession thus far. Lucas Fabianski takes a goal-kick, Swansea win the ball courtesy of Craig Conway and he plays it back to his own goalkeeper, Simon Eastwood.
30 min: We’re treated to a panoramic view of Ewood Park. Well, three sides of it - there are an awful lot of empty seats. A televised (in some regions) FA Cup game at lunchtime against mid-table Premier League opposition on a cold day near the end of January, when we’re all skint. It’s probably no great surprise that plenty of people have opted to sit this one out.
29 min: Blackburn’s Lee Williamson gets booked for a foul on Bafetimbi Gomis. Like the sending off, it looks a wee bit harsh.
26 min: Swansea will be kicking themselves for conceding that goal. Having gone a man down and a goal up, they would have been hoping to sit back and just contain Blackburn for the remainder of the game. Within two minutes of scoring their all important goal, they let Blackburn get back in the game. Marcus Olsson send in a cross, Cairney did well to win the ball in the air and Taylor finished splendidly.

GOAL! Blackburn Rovers 1-1 Swansea City (Taylor 23)
Well, that lead didn’t last long. A nicely worked move enables Chris Taylor to get on the end of a wonderful knock-down from Tom Cairney and volley past Lucasz Fabianski.
Updated
22 min: That was an incredible effort from Sigurdsson. We all know what he’s capable of, but despite him having the ball about five yards outside the penalty area, they make no effort to close him down. He gets into position directly in front of goal and unleashes a pile-driver that fizzes past Simon Eastwood.

GOAL! Blackburn Rovers 0-1 Swansea (Sigurdsson 21)
Wow! A sensational strike from distance from the Icelandic midfielder puts 10-man Swansea ahead.
Updated
19 min: Blackburn midfielder Craig Conway gets the hump with his Swansea counterpart Modou Barrow, appearing to accuse him of exaggerating injury after going down with an ankle injury.
14 min: King terrorises the Swansea City defence with his pace once again, getting in behind them down the inside right and attempting to make room for himself with a delightful little flick. He loses his footing, allowing Swansea to clear, but the ball only goes to Tom Cairney on the edge of the penalty area. He tries his luck with a curled effort, but Fabianski saves well.
12 min: Having seen a replay of the Bartley sending-off, I can see that Swansea City fans and the player himself might consider it a harsh decision. Bartley was being beaten in a race towards the penalty area by the incredibly zippy Josh King and tried to jostle him off the ball with his shoulder. He was a bit too slow, however, and ended up bundling the player over.
Updated
12 min: Blackburn attack down the left flank and the ball is driven into the Swansea penalty area, where Fernandez hacks clear with his first touch.
9 min: Tactical substitution for Swansea: midfielder Tom Carroll off, defender Federico Fernandez on.
8 min: From the ensuing free-kick, right on the edge of the penalty area, Lucasz Fabianski is forced into a smart save. Actually, it’s not all that smart, as he can only bat the ball in front of him, with several Blackburn players poised to pounce. The goalkeeper gets lucky as the ball doesn’t break kindly for any of them.

RED CARD FOR SWANSEA'S KYLE BARTLEY!
7 min: Swansea’s centre-half is shown a red card after Josh King gets the run on him. Bartley prevents a clear goalscoring opportunity by bringing down the striker on the edge of the penalty area after being left in his dust.
Updated
5 min: Playing up front for Blackburn, Josh King runs at Jordi Amat and beats him for pace. King’s touch was a might leaden-footed and he lost possession of the ball.
4 min: Barrow sends in a low cross from the right flank, attempting to pick out Bafetimbi Gomis. It doesn’t reach the striker and Swansea clear.
2 min: Lucasz Fabianski gets an early touch in the Swansea goal, catching a headed back-pass from Dwight Tiendalli, who was cool under pressure.
Updated
1 min: Swansea City kick off, with plenty of empty seats to be seen in Ewood Park. The atmosphere seems rather flat, it must be said. Swansea immediately try to pick out Modou Barrow with a long ball into the corner, but the ball goes out for a Blackburn throw-in, which left-back Marcus Olsson takes.
A minute’s applause: Warm tribute is paid to the late Blackburn Rovers manager Ken Furphy, who passed away a week ago. May he rest in peace.
Not long now ... The teams have left their dressing rooms and are en route to the pitch. Blackburn’s players wear light blue and white halves, white shorts and black socks. Swansea’s are in red and black halves, red shorts and red socks.
Hmmmm. That’s a strange selection from Blackburn Rovers manager Gary Bowyer, in my humble opinion. Swansea City’s defence is fairly porous, but he’s left his two main strikers on the bench, as he did in the previous round. They may well be on the move in the coming days, but Bafetimbi Gomis is being linked with a move away from Swansea, but he still starts. Jordan Rhodes, incidentally, is the man being tipped to replace the Frenchman is he does leave the Liberty Stadium.
Blackburn Rovers v Swansea City - line-ups
Blackburn: Eastwood, Henley, Duffy, Kilgallon, Olsson, Taylor,
Williamson, Lowe, Conway, Cairney, King.
Subs: Hanley, Dunn, Brown, Rhodes, Marshall, Steele, Gestede.
Swansea: Fabianski, Rangel, Amat, Bartley, Tiendalli, Carroll,
Shelvey, Dyer, Sigurdsson, Barrow, Gomis.
Subs: Naughton, Emnes, Nelson Oliveira, Montero, Tremmel, Fernandez, Fulton.
Referee: Craig Pawson (South Yorkshire)
Some team news filtering through. Neither Jordan Rhodes nor Rudy Gestade will be featuring for Blackburn this afternoon, with both strikers having been linked with moves elsewhere in the next week. Swansea have made five changes from the side that was thumped 5-0 by Chelsea last weekend, but Kyle Naughton doesn’t start after his midweek move from Spurs. He starts on the bench.
Good afternoon everybody. Welcome to our minute-by-minute coverage of today’s FA Cup fourth round tie between Blackburn Rovers and Swansea City. After a fairly mundane, surprise-free third round, Cambridge United got the fourth off to a cracking start with their heroic draw with Manchester United at the Abbey Stadium last night. Hearty congratulations to them.
Championship side Rovers will probably fancy their chances of adding to the gaiety of the competition with a victory over Premier League side Swansea City, who are hoping to bounce back from the pummelling they took at the hands of Chelsea last weekend. Kick off is at 12.45pm (GMT) and we’ll have team news for you very shortly.
