Spain haven’t hit the heights many predicted they would before the start of the World Cup, but the European champions continue to move forward in a tournament where they have yet to concede a single goal.

Belgium’s progress hasn’t been as serene. Indeed, Rudi Garcia’s side needed a remarkable late comeback from 2-0 down against Senegal to make the last 16. Many had written off the Red Devils after an underwhelming string of performances.

Against the USA in Seattle, though, Belgium hit their stride in a commanding 4-1 victory. If Garcia can draw that sort of performance out of his players again, Belgium could give Spain some trouble.

Here is your complete guide on how to watch today’s game, including kick-off time, broadcast networks, and online streaming options.

What to watch for

Slowly but surely, Spain have started to hit their stride. Since drawing their opening fixture against Cape Verde, Luis de la Fuente’s side have won four in a row. The Red Devils will be aiming to become the first team to score against the European champions.

And yet Spain aren’t playing with the same intensity they produced in winning Euro 2024. The North American heat may have been a factor, as could the injuries to Lamine Yamal and Nico Williams, both of whom gave Spain verticality two years ago. Whatever the reason, this Spain team isn’t as ferocious as they were a few years ago.

The Belgian backlash to Garcia’s decision to drop Kevin De Bruyne and Jérémy Doku for the last-16 meeting with the USA would have been intense had the Red Devils exited the World Cup. Instead, it revitalised a team that had underwhelmed to that point. Belgium may have found the right formula.

Player to watch: Lamine Yamal, Spain – Still searching for full match fitness and form, Spain’s World Cup chances hinge on the performances of their teenage winger. Yamal is the European champions’ creator-in-chief. When he plays well, so do Spain.
