16 min: Lankshear finds room to shoot on the edge of the box for Boro but his strike is low and easy for Flynn to gather. At the other end, Doyle’s delivery is excellent again but Imray misjudges it at the back post and the ball drifts away from danger.

14 min: Broadhead should do better for Wrexham. Brittain gets on the end of a cross to the back post, heading it across the six-yard box where Broadhead is waiting. He doesn’t get enough contact on his header to direct it goalwards and Boro clear.

12 min: Vyner gives Boro a headache as he marauds forward from centre-back. Sarmiento gets a foot in when Vyner reaches the penalty area and Boro eventually hook it out for a throw.

Stevenage have the lead at Wycombe through Dan Kemp.

10 min: Another corner for Boro. Berhalter delivers an inswinger with his right foot but Smith is fouled and it’s a free-kick to Wrexham.

8 min: Big chance for Middlesbrough! Berhalter’s corner goes short and he delivers an excellent cross after getting it back. Malanda and Lankshear are lurking in the six-yard box and Ward is there to stop Malanda’s volley at point-blank range for Wrexham.

6 min: The whistle goes for a foul by Malanda, who was holding on to Hyam as the corner came in.

Wolves have the lead against Port Vale, Adam Armstrong tucking home after Mateus Mane’s cutback.

4 min: Doyle whips a ball in from the Wrexham left and Rathbone was waiting to connect behind Ayling, who manages to hook it clear. Brittain wins a corner for Middlesbrough.

2 min: Malanda, as is his wont, starts in an advanced position while Boro are on the ball. He tries to feed the ball through for Sarmiento but Vyner deals with it for Wrexham.

We’re 10 minutes from kick-off at the Riverside. There will be no hydration breaks and, as far as I’m aware, no full squad walkouts. Phew.

“We lost some good players … But we’ve also got some very talented players in. I think that when we start the season, we’re going to be at a higher level. I think we have a higher potential in the players we have here, and that we’re going to have a stronger squad when we start the season.

Credit to the people above me, they have been doing a brilliant job. We will see if we add some more, which we hopefully will do.

We haven’t trained much this week because it was important to ensure the lads had the rest they needed so their bodies could recover, but we’re going up there to give the best account of ourselves.

It’s a fantastic experience to be over in America representing Wrexham, it really is, you almost have to see it to believe it. We’ve enjoyed that but now it’s full focus on the start of the season.
