The Ireland prop Peter Clohessy said he is lucky to be alive after being burned in an explosion at his home on Monday evening.

Clohessy will see a plastic surgeon in Galway today having received burns to his arm and face when a bonfire he was tending at his home in Limerick caused an explosion.

"I am lucky to be alive," he said. "I rolled around the garden to extinguish the flames but by then they had burned into my skin. I don't know what exploded in the fire but there may have been an aerosol can in it."

Dan Luger has been called into the England sevens squad for the World Series tournament in Singapore this month. The coach Joe Lydon has been able to call on only five of the squad he took to the Hong Kong Sevens last month. He was restricted in his selections as the tournament clashes with the Powergen Cup final, involving London Irish and Northampton, and Gloucester's Premiership game at Bristol.

Paula George will captain England's squad at the Women's Rugby World Cup in Barcelona from May 13-25.
