Less than 24 hours after getting their Six Nations campaign back on track, England have been dealt a double injury blow ahead of Sunday's final game against Wales.

Captain Phil Vickery and centre Mike Tindall will both miss the Millennium Stadium clash, which could leave stand-in skipper Mike Catt to lead the side again. Catt himself is also struggling with a hamstring problem, but should be available to train again later this week, along with Toby Flood, who sustained a leg injury in yesterday's 26-18 win over France.

Wasps prop Vickery has not recovered from the concussion that ruled him out of the France game, while Tindall is in a London hospital suffering from a suspected knee infection. Tindall scored England's match-clinching try against the French, but was admitted to hospital last night. The possible infection is to his left knee, and he underwent an arthroscopic wash-out. He will remain in hospital for the next few days, with Newcastle's Mathew Tait his likely replacement against Wales.

"It is unfortunate for Mike and England because I felt he played a key part in our success yesterday, and I hope he makes a swift recovery," said England head coach Brian Ashton.

Flood, who marked his first Test start by scoring 16 points, went off midway through the second period and was replaced by London Irish prospect Shane Geraghty. But England say Flood is "making progress", and he could well keep the No10 shirt against Wales, even if Jonny Wilkinson is declared fit following his hamstring strain.

Andy Farrell, meanwhile, will not join up with the England squad this week as he continues to have treatment on his lower back.
