In brief

Larkham turns his back on Edinburgh

Stephen Larkham, who plays for Australia against Japan in Lyon today, has pulled out of a move to Edinburgh after breaking off his contract with the club's former owners. The 33-year-old fly-half was due to move to Murrayfield on a two-year contract after the World Cup. However, he agreed the move before the change in ownership, with the club having been returned into Scottish Rugby Union hands last month at the end of a bitter dispute with the former franchisees. Leeds, newly promoted to the Premiership, are keen to sign him. PA

Media dispute ends

Reuters and Agence France-Presse announced yesterday that they were ending their suspension of coverage of the World Cup following talks with organisers. Agreement was reached on the use of photographs on websites less than two hours before the opening match between France and Argentina. The Associated Press, Getty and the European Pressphoto Agency had also suspended coverage. The agencies, joined in their protest by the French sports daily L'Equipe and a 40-strong world news media coalition, had suspended all text, photographic and TV cover from Thursday. A joint statement by World Cup organisers and the media coalition said: "Both sides agree that still photographs used on websites should not be presented in a way which 'emulates video'. For the Rugby World Cup 2007 only, news and sports websites will be allowed to use a maximum number of stills during games of 200."
