England are awaiting the result of a scan on James Haskell's foot before confirming their line-up to face Ireland in Dublin on Saturday.

The back-row forward's problem is described as "mild" but the medical staff are keen not to take any chances, with Lewis Moody still not certain to be fit for the opening Rugby World Cup pool match against Argentina on 10 September.

Ben Youngs is certain not to be involved against the Irish but the prospects of Andrew Sheridan being named in the match-day 22 have increased.

The Sale prop has been troubled by problems with his right shoulder but is due to feature at the Aviva Stadium if he suffers no ill-effects from training. "We're looking to include him this weekend, whether it's starting or on the bench," England's scrum coach, Graham Rowntree, said.
