Wales's Bradley Davies and Ireland's Stephen Ferris have been cited for dangerous tackles in the Six Nations fixture at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin on Sunday.

Davies was shown a yellow card for dumping Donnacha Ryan to the turf on his head in an off-the-ball incident, while Ferris was also sinbinned in the 79th minute after a tackle on Ian Evans.

The players' hearings, before an independent disciplinary committee, will be held on Wednesday.

Wales had expected the news on Davies, who could now miss the rest of the tournament. "You have got to keep your head," said the Wales coach Warren Gatland after the game. "It is not like club rugby where you can get away with things like that. You cannot get caught up in the moment and be undisciplined because it will cost you."

Both Davies and Ferris have been cited under Law 10.4 (j), which states: "Lifting a player from the ground and dropping or driving that player into the ground whilst that player's feet are still off the ground such that the player's head and/or upper body come into contact with the ground is dangerous play."
