Philippe Coutinho’s agent has insisted the Brazil midfielder is “happy at Liverpool” amid reported interest from Spain in signing him in January.
On Monday, the Catalan-based newspaper Sport devoted its front page to Barcelona’s interest in signing the 23-year-old when their transfer embargo is lifted in January, while Real Madrid have also been linked.
However, Coutinho, who joined from Internazionale for £8.5m in January 2013, does not want to leave Anfield, according to his representative Kia Joorabchian.
“Philippe is extremely happy at Liverpool. He signed a new long-term contract towards the end of last season that represents his ambition and his feeling for Liverpool,” he told the Brazilian TV channel Globo.
“Reports that I have been talking to Real Madrid about Philippe are not true. His aspirations are to qualify for the Champions League with Liverpool this season and to win a trophy. That is all that he is focused on – and nothing else.”
