Well, that’s time, and USA can’t do what they did 26 years ago tomorrow and win 1-0 in Port of Spain. A draw was probably a fair result – neither side were hugely dominant – but Gyasi Zardes should have scored with a free header from Altidore’s lovely cross.

Oh well. Jürgen will probably be satisfied with a 0-0 against the second best team in the group, and they round out a largely impressive 2015 without defeat. Altidore and Johnson did well for USA, and Joevin Jones was T&T’s standout performer. Time for a shower: those sweat-soaked shirts in the 89% humidity may well have to be incinerated.

90 min + 1: Three minutes of stoppage time, and USA have a corner. Ack, it’s wasted, and Bateau clears.

90 min: Good defending from former Gooner Hoyte to stop Yedlin, but then his ball forward is sub-David Hillier, and it’s straight out of play. Rubbish!

88 min: Caesar, barrel-chested and stocky, heads for goal, and for a moment T&T have four on four, but the move peters out rather pathetically as Cummings dribbles a shot well wide.

86 min: Wood hasn’t had chance to really get involved so far. Johnson is miffed as Caesar came in strongly, and it’s a USA free-kick. Can they get a winner?

85 min: Final change for T&T: Cato is replaced by Trevin Caesar.

84 min: Bradley’s ball in is vicious, under the keeper, but Cameron is whistled for a non-existent foul.

83 min: Johnson’s cross is deflected behind for a corner. USA pressing here.

81 min: Change for T&T: Keron Cummings on for Andre Bouchard.

78 min: What an effort from Jermaine Jones! It didn’t look as though anything was on, so Jones just had whack from about 30 yards, and it’s off the crossbar! Corner: it was actually a brilliant save from Williams. Superb fingertip to nudge it on to the bar and over.

77 min: Trinidad look happy with a 0-0. It’s here for USA to win.

75 min: Change for USA: Zardes off, Bobby Wood on. And T&T are making a switch, too: Justin Hoyte, once of Arsenal, now at Dagenham & Redbridge, on for Mekeil Williams.

74 min: Bobby Wood warming up for USA. They’ve done pretty well in this second half, but the final ball has been lacking. That said, Zardes should have scored with the one that came back off the bar.

72 min: Bradley looks for Zardes with a long, swirling cross, and that’s a corner, off Cyrus. Half-cleared, and Zardes with a chance: off his shin and wide.

68 min: Yedlin looks for Zardes, running beyond the T&T backline, but his cross is crap. Goal kick.

USA substitution: Darlington Nagbe on for Tim Ream. Fabian Johnson to left-back?

67 min: Well, that was a funny one: Cyrus slung one in, and Jones looked as though he was bumped by Orozco, but no one appealed, and the match just continued. Jones had his hands up: he wanted a penalty.

65 min: Johnson’s first corner is headed behind, and his second one is deep, and T&T can’t clear, but Cameron’s ball in is well claimed by Williams, who came out in acrobatic fashion. And that’s a chance for T&T at the other end! Jones absolutely rinsed Tim Ream, and cut it back from the touchline, but the header from Cato, was it, was weak.

Ream looked as though he was struggling there. Is he 100%?

61 min: Zardes peels off the back of the defender and is free in the inside-right channel, but Bateau blocks. Corner.

60 min: And then he takes the free kick, and it’s awful. Ho hum.

59 min: Joevin Jones is tripped by Bradley, about 35 yards from goal. Jones, of the Chicago Fire, has been one of T&T’s standout players today.

58 min: Incidentally, USA group mates St Vincent & the Grenadines lost 4-0 at home to Guatemala today, meaning they’ve conceded 10 in their opening two games. In Group A, Mexico beat Honduras 2-0, so they sit top.

57 min: Jermaine Jones is down again. Break time!

55 min: Joevin Jone’s ball in, but Abu Bakr was climbing, and it’s a free kick USA.

54 min: Great piece of defending from the tall, rangy Abu Bakr as Altidore looked to go clear. Then Kenwyne Jones goes long, and Besler does just enough to get a touch and concede the corner.

51 min: USA win a corner, and Johnson plonks it in to the near post, just as we saw against St Vincent, but Besler’s flick header is just over. USA are on top here: they’ve been excellent since the break.

49 min: Yellow card for Jermaine Jones for a late, and rather nasty, clump on Hyland from behind. Zardes was slightly unlucky just then, but really, he should have scored: he was free in the area six yards out.

47 min: Lovely burst from Yedlin, accelerating away from a gaggle of T&T players, and he feeds Altidore, whose cross is headed against the bar by Zardes! Great play from Yedlin, and Altidore’s cross was a beauty, and Zardes was totally free … He had to score.

45 min + 1: Kenwyne Jones goes for goal … and it’s tame in the extreme. Howard collects – he could have stopped that with his cap. That’s the half.

45 min: One minute of stoppage time, and that’s a yellow for Yedlin for a trip on Joevin Jones as he looked to counter. Good area for T&T.

42 min: Yedlin is late on Kevan George, and it’s a foul. A slight lull here.

40 min: Cyrus is down after taking a powerful Johnson shot in his testicular area. We’ll have a break.

39 min: Ludicrous long shot from Andre Boucaud, and it’s spanked into orbit.

36 min: Joevin Jones is fouled in a dangerous area, but the ball in is useless and Howard claims. Besler is down on the touchline momentarily, but he’s back up and OK.

34 min: Cyrus’s long throw is half-headed clear, and Bateau tries one from range. It’s blocked, but T&T are pushing USA back here.

33 min: Cyrus left Jermaine Jones on his arse by the corner-flag, but his cross is blocked. Cyrus has looked quite good down this right side.

31 min: Altidore is almost in, but his touch lets him down. Oh, Jozy. USA are doing better here, though, and the T&T coach Stephen Hart is gesticulating to no one in particular.

29 min: It’s wasted, and USA clear. And then the visitors go up the other end, and Zardes can’t get any purchase on his header! Altidore crossed from the left, and Zardes just mistimed his effort. Chance!

28 min: Hyland has a go from distance, and it’s blocked. Corner.

27 min: Ooh, that was a chance for Cordell Cato, released through the middle as Ream and Besler chased, but Cato never really looked confident, and his shot dribbled wide. A shame, for the through-pass was lush.

25 min: Jermaine Jones lands hard after Hyland makes a back. Free kick, and Jones will be OK.

23 min: Twice Cato is free on the right, but twice he does nothing with it: first he’s tackled, and then he’s inexplicably offside, the dummy.

22 min: Altidore with an effort from 20 yards – it just sat up for him, and he thought: why not? It was just too high, but it’s better from USA.

20 min: Fabian Johnson reacts quickest in that pocket of space in front of the T&T defence, and has a dip from range. It’s straight at Williams, but that’s good positive stuff from Johnson, who’s playing in his preferred left-midfield role.

19 min: Yedlin crosses for Zardes, but Abu Bakr is in the way. Better territory from USA, but the crossing has been disappointing so far.

16 min: Not much so far in attack for USA. Jürgen Klinsmann is leaning against the dugout in a blue polo shirt. It’s about 81F in Port of Spain, and 89% humidity. 89%! That’s sweaty.

15 min: Bateau was nearly in there after some indecisive defending from USA, but he can’t quite get his shot off.

13 min: Fans of the Soca Warriors are making waves in the stands. It holds about 23,000, this stadium, and it looks pretty full. And there’s a chance for Kenwyne Jones! Lovely pirouette on the edge of the box to fool Besler, but his shot was just wide. Good play.

William Duffy parps: “Tim, are you having trouble keeping up with the Joneses?”

11 min: Ream’s back, and USA can get back to work. They’ve settled after that early scare.

Here’s my colleague Graham Parker on Yedlin: “Interesting to see Yedlin pushed up on the right – a decision perhaps confirmed by his role in both the first goal conceded and first goal scored the other night. His future’s further forward under Klinsmann – he’s not yet shown signs of being trustworthy in defense when it counts.”

9 min: Now Ream goes down holding his face: he took a wallop from Cordell Cato. I don’t think it was intentional, but Ream got a whack there. No card, though.

7 min: Bradley bisects the T&T defence looking for Yedlin, but Jan-Michael Williams is quick to come off his line and collect. Yedlin playing further forward tonight. Is he a full-back or a winger?

5 min: Jermaine Jones – another Jones! – is high with an elbow, and there’s a stoppage. No card.

4 min: That was a really good chance for Jones – I think Besler slipped, and Jones had time, but he just slammed it high.

Anthems done. Shouldn’t be too long now.

There’s a lot of messing around on the pitch at the moment, with various dignitaries shaking hands with the players. The advertised kick-off time was 6.36pm, but we won’t be starting for a while yet, it seems.
