We’re away in the second half but affairs aren’t getting any better for the Dragons. Studdon requires her left arm to be taped after having it bent the wrong way in a tackle before Ward adds two points to the total via a penalty goal from straight in front.

Ward catches a deft chip and crosses over for what looks a definite try, but McGregor, the kicker, is ruled to have gained an advantage and concedes a penalty for obstruction.

27 mins: Aaliyah Fasavalu-Fa’amausili is cut open beneath the eye and is off for a breather. On the field it’s business as usual for the Broncos, who win another penalty and continue to dominate possession and territory.

21 mins: This is better from the Dragons. They build some pressure and a dribble from Studdon looks like being tracked down by Apps, but desperate work from Ward and Upton send the ball dead. Summing up the Dragons day to this point, the drop out is allowed to bounce over the sideline.

Lovely work by Raecene McGregor out of dummy-half, putting the Dragons in two minds with a sidestep and fend before crossing over near the posts for the try that was just waiting to happen. If the floodgates haven’t opened yet, they’re about to. The Dragons can barely get their hands on the ball.
