Elsewhere, Brighton cruised to a huge 4-0 win against Aston Villa at the Amex Stadium.

Bournemouth will be very disappointed with that. They defended well until the late stages but just couldn’t see the game out. Meanwhile, it’s a huge relief for Manchester City and Enzo Maresca.

89 min: Bournemouth look to break forward and Gannon-Doak sends a floating cross into the box which is easily caught by Donnarumma. City then struggle to make the most of the attempted counter attack.

89 min: Another change for Bournemouth. Ben Gannon-Doak is on for Rayan.

86 min: Cherki sends a corner into the box and Guéhi is left completely unmarked in the middle, allowing him to head the ball straight past Petrović and into the net.

83 min: Haaland breaks through on goal and makes his way to the edge of the box, but Truffert manages to get back to make the challenge.

82 min: Jack Grealish is on for his first Premier League appearance for Manchester City in over a year. He replaces Foden.

79 min: Jebbison is quick to get involved as he forces a good save from Donnarumma with a header. A good chance for the visitors. They now have a corner.

76 min: It’s a triple change for Bournemouth as Daniel Jebbison replaces Evanilson, Alex Tóth goes on for Kluivert and Cook makes way for Tyler Adams.

Just under 15 minutes of regular time left to play.

74 min: Another big chance for City! Guéhi plays a give-and-go with Foden on the right before sending a low cross to Haaland in the box. The striker appears to scuff his shot, allowing Petrović to make the save.

71 min: Tavernier looks to make his way over to the left side as three City players attempt to get the ball back – which they eventually do before kicking off an attack.

That move ends with Cherki playing a short pass through to Haaland, who fires his effort over the crossbar.

68 min: Cherki plays a short pass to Foden on the edge of the box. The attacking midfielder takes a step to set himself before going for goal, but his attempt is deflected.

66 min: Haaland sends a cross to Foden just inside the box, but Petrović comes off his line to punch it clear. Bournemouth are defending very well here.

65 min: The ball is played over to Rayan on the right but the winger does too much and eventually runs it out of play.

63 min: Another two changes for City as Mateo Kovačić replaces Anderson, while O’Reilly makes way for Rayan Cherki.

62 min: Anderson is down and seems to be struggling with a quad or hamstring issue. He looks set to come off.

58 min: Nunes gets involved quickly and sends a cross into the box, where Haaland is being double-marked. The ball eventually runs out of danger.

56 min: City are first to make a change as Matheus Nunes replaces Lewis in the right-back position.

54 min: Smith prevents Semenyo from running through once again. The full-back has played very well so far this afternoon.

52 min: Wow! That is a huge miss!

Anderson takes the corner and sends the ball into the box. Petrović loses his footing, giving Guéhi an open goal at the back post. However, the England star completely messes up the header and directs it wide!

51 min: Smith gets across Semenyo to stop his run into the box and sends the ball out for a corner.

48 min: Manchester City have a free kick early in this second half after Semenyo is brought down just in front of the halfway line. The hosts are quite happy just to keep the ball at the moment.

Elsewhere in the Premier League right now, Brighton are beating 10-man Aston Villa 4-0 at the Amex Stadium. Yes, you read that right, FOUR!

We’ve had some messages come in… mainly about Haaland’s hair.

Hasan says: “I don’t want to go straight to the obvious Samson/Delilah narrative, but the question has to be asked - would Haaland have put that chance away pre-haircut?”

Tom adds: “Surely just an act of trolling for that lad who’s not cutting his hair until United win five in a row? Will the humiliations never cease?”

And Mary comments: “The great Swede Zlatan told Haaland not to cut his hair, the Sampson effect. Haaland, a rational Norwegian, cut it off.”

45+1 min: We’re into the only minute of added time and Evanilson is booked for a late challenge on Guéhi. The forward then goes to ground, claiming he has been hit in the face by Gvardiol, but no more cards are shown.

43 min: Haaland looks to receive a cross in the box with his back to goal. He manages to bring it down but his attempt at the target runs wide.

40 min: Bournemouth break forward with pace once again and the ball is passed to Tavernier in the middle, around 30 yards out from goal. The City defenders are caught ball-watching once again as the winger receives the pass before attempting to curl a shot into the bottom-left corner.

His effort eventually runs just wide for a goal kick.

39 min: Chance for City as the ball is crossed into the box. Haaland is there to flick it towards goal, forcing a save from Petrović. Nothing comes of the resulting corner.

36 min: O’Reilly makes another run down the left side and sends a cross to Foden in the box, but there’s a bit too much on it and the 26-year-old can’t bring the ball down.

33 min: There’s a warning – in just a few passes, Rayan looks to run in behind the City defence but Gvardiol gets there to make a good challenge.

32 min: City are playing very high up the pitch right now. They need to be careful not to get caught out by a counter attack.

29 min: Evanilson avoids a booking for a clumsy challenge on Anderson.

28 min: Semenyo goes to ground in the box after contact from Smith but the referee decides against awarding a penalty, much to the frustration of the home fans.

27 min: That was some very poor defending from Manchester City. The hosts appeared to switch off as Bournemouth went on the attack there.

The ball is played out to Evanilson on the right side, who is gifted acres of space, and the Brazilian plays it to Tavernier in the box, who slots his shot past Donnarumma.

24 min: Semenyo makes his way into the box and is tackled by Rayan, who gets the last touch on the ball before it runs behind before the referee awards Bournemouth a goal kick.

21 min: Bournemouth still haven’t had much of a look at goal just yet, but they are growing into this game.

18 min: Truffert and Foden both go to ground holding their ankles following a 50/50 challenge but can play on without needing any treatment.

15 min: Rayan goes for goal from the right side of the box and forces a save from Donnarumma. Bournemouth cannot follow the chance up from the resulting corner and City eventually clear.

13 min: Huge chance for City! O’Reilly makes a brilliant run down the left before crossing to Haaland in the box. However, the striker misjudges it and tries to bring the ball down with his chest, instead giving it straight to Petrović.

12 min: Rayan receives the ball on the right and plays Smith through on the overlap. The full-back goes for the cross but it’s blocked and cleared.

8 min: So, it looks like Guéhi is playing in a deeper midfield role alongside Anderson, while O’Reilly is further forward with the freedom to roam.

O’Reilly has been causing some problems for the Bournemouth defence so far.

6 min: Smith completely clatters into Semenyo on the left side, gifting City a free kick in a potentially dangerous position.

Nothing comes of the set piece and Bournemouth can make the clearance.

4 min: Big chance for City as the ball is played to Foden in the box, who brilliantly sets up Lewis with a clever flick. The full-back goes for goal but is denied by Petrović.

3 min: Smith runs into O’Reilly, who is starting in midfield, and wins a free kick for Bournemouth just inside the box.

2 min: On first glance, it looks as though Guéhi is playing in midfield. He’s definitely not as deep as the defensive line.

An interesting choice from Maresca.

Before kick-off, there is a minute of applause to pay tribute to Kevin Keegan, who died last month. Keegan managed City from 2001 to 2005.

The teams are out and they have been greeted with a tifo reading “Welcome back, Enzo” along with some fireworks. Kick-off is just a few moments away.

“Enzo Maresca is a disciple of Pep Guardiola, but is he taking the smaller squad principle too far?

“League is a marathon. Only sustained standards will keep you close to the top. I took the average standing of the top 5 who have won the league at least once in the last 20 seasons. The result is a surprise.

“Chelsea leads the table with 3.5 closely followed by City at 3.55, Man Utd at 3.65, Arsenal at 3.9 and Liverpool at 4.5. None of this will matter when Hull wins the league this season!”

A lot has changed in the Premier League this season. We’ve got some new rules, nine new managers and several big-money transfers. Sarah Rendell has outlined some of them below.

“Good morning from Pittsburgh! USA goalkeeping legend Tim Howard provided a remarkably wise ex-player’s perspective on the TV here about Pep Guardiola’s departure from Manchester City. When Howard joined Everton, during David Moyes’ legendary first tour of duty there, it was on arriving players to prove themselves to him. It was Moyes’ club. When Moyes left, the shoe was on the other foot, and it was on replacement Roberto Martinez’s shoulders to prove himself to the Everton players. This is the challenge Maresca faces in the Man City dressing room. Whether it goes as well as it did for Martinez at Everton or as poorly for Moyes succeeding Sir Alex at Man United, time will tell.”

Marco Rose spoke positively before his first competitive match in charge of Bournemouth, at Manchester City on Sunday. The German head coach was unveiled in May after Andoni Iraola made the decision to leave the south coast club.

The Cherries are one of nine Premier League teams to have made a managerial change this summer and Rose knows what to expect up against Enzo Maresca, another of the coaching newbies this season.

“The things I saw so far with Chelsea and now Manchester City, it’s a clear idea, a clear philosophy,” Rose said. “You know what you get, you know what they want to play, you see the processes and the approach they have.

“It’s quite intense against the ball, high pressing and, with the ball, you know what quality you face and you see a clear idea in established play. It’s a tough challenge but we are quite positive. We had a really good pre-season. I settled in very well and everyone supported me and the new coaching staff.”

Enzo Maresca has brushed off the loss of Rodri to Barcelona for £65m by stating Manchester City will search for the “new Rodri” in the same way Sergio Agüero was replaced by Erling Haaland…

Is Bouaddi the new Rodri?

Speaking ahead of today’s match, Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca said: “At the beginning of the season you don’t set targets in terms of trophies. The target since day one has been quite clear with the club and the players, it’s to compete. You arrive in March and April to be there and then we will see what happens.”

A look at the league table…

As expected, Savinho is not in the Manchester City squad today as he closes in on a move to Tottenham. Omar Marmoush, who has also been linked with Spurs, has been named as a substitute.

It’s believed the duo could join the north London club for a combined £160million. Savinho will cost £85m while Marmoush has been priced at £75m.
