England will be without full-back Mathew Tait and No8 Luke Narraway when they take on the Pacific Islanders this weekend after both failed to recover from hamstring injuries. The team manager Martin Johnson is set to name his first squad tomorrow, with Delon Armitage of London Irish and Harlequins' Nick Easter possible beneficiaries.
Tait, who moved from Newcastle to Sale this season, made his last appearance off the bench in the Sharks' Heineken Cup defeat to Munster on October 19, while Narraway's most recent outing came on the same day for Gloucester away to Cardiff. Both players featured on England's ill-starred tour of New Zealand over the summer, with Narraway one of the few players to impress.
The uncapped Armitage and World Cup 2007 stalwart Easter were added to England's training squad last week as cover for Tait and Narraway, who will return to the England base on Sunday to undergo a further medical review. London Irish hooker David Paice has also been drafted into the wider England squad as cover for Leicester's George Chuter, who has a knee injury.
