In the movie Planes, Trains and Automobiles Steve Martin is late getting to the airport for a Thanksgiving trip home. He spots a taxi and realises that unless he gets it he'll miss his flight. He's beaten to the cab by a New York attorney and in desperation he offers him $50 for his place.
The guy looks at Martin with surprise but sensing just how desperate he is replies 'anyone who'd pay $50 for a cab, would certainly pay 75'. Steve Martin responds '....not...necessarily' but hands it over anyway.
Reminds me of United's Summer in the transfer market.
