Champions League roundup
Thank you so much for joining me for these Champions League matches. There were 23 goals and a red card so we weren’t short on action, you can recap some of it with the reports below. I will catch you soon.
Aston Villa’s Emiliano Buendia told TNT Sports:
Very good. These type of teams come in here with energy and they want to show their character. We respect them a lot.
I should score more. I had chances. I’m pleased. Important win.
A round-up of all of today’s fixtures:
Como 4-1 Man Utd
Lille 2-4 Galatasaray
Sporting 2-3 LASK
Real Betis 1-0 Feyenoord
Inter Milan 1-0 Shakhtar
Bayern Munich 2-2 Arsenal
Aston Villa 3-1 Viking
Club Brugge 3-0 Lens
Real Madrid 4-1 RB Leipzig
Full time: Sporting 2-3 LASK
What a huge result for LASK, they beat last season’s quarter-finalists in Sporting. That will give them a huge boost in confidence as they head into the rest of the competition.
Full time: Aston Villa 3-1 Viking
Aston Villa had been on top of the table at 3-0 but Viking getting a goal back means they won’t end the night there. A good performance from Villa though.
Full time: Inter Milan 1-0 Shakhtar
Inter Milan went down to 11 but they come away with all three points.
Full time: Real Madrid 4-1 RB Leipzig
Wow, what a match in the end. It was a bit sluggish at times but that second half was mesmerising. The last two goals in particular outstanding.
Full time: Club Brugge 3-0 Lens
It was a professional performance from Club Brugge with Lens blown away.
Full time: Real Betis 1-0 Feyenoord
A penalty from Isco is the difference in Spain.
Full time: Bayern Munich 2-2 Arsenal
Two England internationals scored in the second half with Harry Kane scoring a penalty and Declan Rice finishing off a well worked goal. But the spoils are shared in Germany.
GOAL! Sporting 2-3 LASK (Suarez 89)
Can Sporting pull this result back? They have scored one to make is a possibility.

Will Viking get their goal?
Real Madrid 3-1 RB Leipzig, 86 min: Real Madrid just completely fell asleep at the back and Gomis took advantage.
GOAL! Real Madrid 3-1 RB Leipzig (Gomis 85)
The most vulnerable when you score and that is proof.
Real Madrid 3-0 RB Leipzig, 84 min: It was passed back to Mbappe and he took it so casually. He was on the edge of the box and he just whips it in the top corner. WOW.
GOAL! Real Madrid 3-0 RB Leipzig (Mbappe 83)
That was special.
Updated
GOAL! Bayern Munich 2-2 Arsenal (Rice 82)
Bayern had again looked comfortable but Rice comes good for the London team to equalise.
Updated

Real Madrid 2-0 RB Leipzig, 80 min: Baku comes close to getting one back for the visitors but his backheel attempt is wide.
GOAL! Inter Milan 1-0 Shakhtar (Augusto 77)
They may be a man down but they are a goal up.
Updated
Real Madrid 2-0 RB Leipzig, 75 min: The visitors have a free kick in a great position but can they score here? No but they came close. The initial hit was poor but it came back and Cortois safely collects.
GOAL! Club Brugge 3-0 Lens (Forbs 72)
Surely that is the game now?
Updated
Inter Milan 0-0 Shakhtar, 70 min: It was a second yellow card for Bastoni as he fouls someone in the box and is sent off. He received both yellows in the space of two mintues.
RED CARD: Inter Milan 0-0 Shahktar (Bastoni 69)
I am unsure as to why that has been given, let me do some research.
Updated
Aston Villa 3-0 Viking, 67 min: A reminder that as things stand, that third goal puts Aston Villa at the top of the Champions League table.
GOAL! Sporting 1-3 LASK (Danek 68)
What an away performance this is from LASK.
Updated
Aston Villa 3-0 Viking, 63 min: The third goal has actually been credited as a Heggheim own goal rather than a clean slot by Alysson.

LASK are on to pull off a comeback away from home.
Updated
GOAL! Aston Villa 3-0 Viking (Alysson 62)

Updated
Real Madrid 2-0 RB Leipzig, 64 min: Vini Jr and Mbappe have some beautiful interplay which doesn’t quite pay off but Real Madrid are really enjoying themselves now.
Bayern Munich 2-1 Arsenal, 63 min: Kane will be hoping to add the Ballon d’Or to his trophy cabinet this Sunday and if he does it is thanks to goals and penalties like the one he has just scored. Timber blocked a shot from Kane to create the opportunity for a penalty and the England captain scores.
PENALTY! Bayern Munich 2-1 Arsenal (Kane 61)
Who else?
Updated
Real Madrid 2-0 RB Leipzig, 60 min: Bellingham is absolutely everywhere at the moment. Whether he is creating chances, making runs or getting back to defend.
PENALTY! Real Betis 1-0 Feyenoord (Isco 59)
That is well taken.
Updated

Real Madrid 2-0 RB Leipzig, 56 min: The Spanish team are just playing around now, they know they have the cushion and it has freed them up to play some lovely football. Mbappe comes close to making it three after some lovely build-up play.
Real Madrid 2-0 RB Leipzig, 53 min: Ah I think Guler will be credited, it comes off of his boot. But it all starts from a lovely cross from Bellingham. Lovely goal.
Updated
GOAL! Real Madrid 2-0 RB Leipzig (Mbappe 52)
I think that will be credited to Mbappe but it may have been rebounded in by another player. Confirmation to come but that was beautiful.
Aston Villa 2-0 Viking, 50 min: Well it is the visitors who are having all of the joy this half with Moi’s attempt saved by Suzuki.
GOAL! Club Brugge 2-0 Lens (Seys 50)
The hosts are in control now.
Updated
Bayern Munich 1-1 Arsenal, 49 min: Wow Neuer take a bow. How has he managed to save that? Gabriel heads it and it bounces, somehow the keeper scrambles to keep the scoreboard level.
Real Madrid 1-0 RB Leipzig, 48 min: Valverde makes a great run and Vandervoort saves really well on the resulting shot.
Real Madrid 1-0 RV Leipzig, 46 min: Mourinho returned to his dugout early and his non-reaction to the goal maybe shows him how he is feeling about the performance this evening. But then again it is Mourinho, it may mean nothing.
Updated
Bayern Munich 1-1 Arsenal, 46 min: Bayern have made a change at the break with Tah on for Kim Min-jae
Back underway
The seven games are gradually getting back underway with staggered kick-offs with varying injury times in the first half. All of the action to come.
Wow, that was a lot of action towards the break. Anyone for a cuppa? I’ll put the kettle on.
Half-time: Sporting 1-1 LASK
There was a lot of action in the early doors of this one but it has slowed down into the breal, all square.
Half-time: Aston Villa 2-0 Viking
It has been all Aston Villa in this clash with Viking and as things stand they are just one goal away from going to the top of the Champions League table.
Half-time: Club Brugge 1-0 Lens
That late goal is the lasting impact at the break.
GOAL! Club Brugge 1-0 Lens (Vanaken 45 +3)
A late first half goal, a perfect time to make an impact on the scoreboard.
Updated
Half-time: Inter Milan 0-0 Shakhtar
There is no major news to bring you from Italy at the break.
Half-time: Real Madrid 1-0 RB Leipzig
There have been some quality chances and some fantastic saves in this one so far but it is Bernardo Silva’s boot that is the difference at the moment.
Half-time: Bayern Munich 1-1 Arsenal
Everything is square in Munich who have fought back after Eze opened the scoring.
Half-time: Real Betis 0-0 Feyenoord
It’s all square in Spain.
Real Madrid 1-0 RB Leipzig, 44 min: The visitors will be frustrated, the keeper saved the initial shot but Silva pounced on the rebound.
GOAL! Real Madrid 1-0 RB Leipzig (Silva 44)
It was scrappy but Silva won’t care, it is his first goal for Real Madrid.
Updated
Real Madrid 0-0 RB Leipzig, 43 min: Fans jeer Mbappe as he gives the ball away, the high standards at the Spanish club as prevalent as ever.
Real Madrid 0-0 RB Leipzig, 40 min: Wow, that would have been an absolute screamer had that been on target for Bellingham. He looks so angry as it flies wide, some frustrtaion in his side’s performance so far.
Real Madrid 0-0 RB Leipzig, 38 min: More of the same in Madrid, some good football being played but the clinical edge is lacking.
PENALTY: Aston Villa 2-0 Viking (Buendia 36)
And it is scored, another goal felt like it was coming and Viking did everything they could to stop it but it was illegal and Buenida scores.
Updated
Aston Villa 0-0 Viking, 36 min: It’s given, penalty to come.
Updated
Penalty check: Aston Villa 0-0 Viking
Alysson was tackled in the area and VAR have stepped in to see if it should be a penalty.

Arsenal were looking comfortable but Alphonso Davies has levelled the score.
Updated
Real Madrid 0-0 RB Leipzig, 34 min: Nusa has been playing really well for the visitors and he unleashes a shot at goal but it smacks Rudiger. Fairly even in the encounter overall but Leipzig feel closer to a goal at the moment.
Aston Villa 1-0 Viking, 32 min: Villa are completely dominant and have come close to doubling their lead, the latest attempt seeing Buendia’s header saved.
Real Madrid 0-0 RB Leipzig, 30 min: This game has come to life. Vini Jr makes an incredible run to force a save.
Real Madrid 0-0 RB Leipzig, 29 min: There is a mixed reaction to Real Madrid tonight from the supporters, some are booing them after an unbalanced season and it seems to continue with Cortois making a huge save.
Bayern Munich 0-1 Arsenal, 27 min: There was a VAR check on Eze’s goal for a possible offside but the goal will stand.
Real Madrid 0-0 RB Leipzig, 25 min: The German team are getting opportunities in the box but then they are crowded out and sloppy passes waste chances.
GOAL! Bayern Munich 0-1 Arsenal (Eze 26)
Well he didn’t start the game but Eze is the difference maker in Munich.
Updated
GOAL! Aston Villa 1-0 Viking (Barkley 23)
Villa are ahead after having all of the momentum in the early stages of the encounter.
Updated
Bayern Munich 0-0 Arsenal, 22 min: The hosts have come close to opening the scoring with Neuer putting in a great long pass to Gnarby but Raya saves well.
Real Madrid 0-0 RB Leipzig, 21 min: It is end to end at the moment with Mbappe having a chance but his shot goes wide.
Real Madrid 0-0 RB Leipzig, 19 min: The hosts are in the ascendency here, they keep knocking on the door with chance after chance coming in. There’s a sense they will break this deadlock soon.
Real Madrid 0-0 RB Leipzig, 17 min: How have Real Madrid not scored there? Bernardo Silva was left with an almost open goal but it gets caught under his feet and the chance is gone.
GOAL! Sporting 1-1 LASK (Lang 15)
Christoph Lang has hit back for the visitors.
Real Madrid 0-0 RB Leipzig, 15 min: The Germans continue to play their free kicks backwards, admittedly they have been in their own half, but an interesting tactic nonetheless.
Bayern Munich 0-0 Arsenal, 13 min: There is less positive news for Arsenal fans as Bukayo Saka has been substituted off with an injury. The Gunners supporters will be hoping it isn’t as serious as it looked.
Aston Villa 0-0 Viking, 12 min: Joao Gomes went down with what looked to be a knee injury but after some medical attention he has been strapped up and he is playing on.
Real Madrid 0-0 RB Leipzig, 11 min: The hosts have really grown into this, RB Leipzig look a bit cagey now as opposed to their open play in the first five minutes.
Real Madrid 0-0 RB Leipzig, 9 min: Real Madrid have their first chance but the visitors deal with it well. Mbappe lurks, waiting for the ball and it does come in but the keeper is wise to it.
Real Madrid 0-0 RB Leipzig, 7 min: Cardoso makes a great run into the box but Rudiger does really well to put him off and win the ball back.
GOAL! Sporting 1-0 LASK (Suarez 5)
The first goal of the evening and it is a well taken penalty from Luis Suarez.
Updated
Real Madrid 0-0 RB Leipzig, 5 min: Rudiger gives away a free kick but they work it back to their keeper. It’s not been an action packed start to this one but a fun fact is that today is Jose Mourinho’s 100th day back in charge of Real Madrid.
Real Madrid 0-0 RB Leipzig, 3 min: The Bernabau is absolutely popping this evening, the atmosphere is electric. The hosts aren’t intimadated as they have had the majority of possession so far.
2 min: Strap in everyone, this could get chaotic quite quickly. If you think I have missed anything important, email me and I’ll post in the blog.
Kick-off!
We are underway in all seven matches, get in touch with any thoughts as these all play out.

We do have a separate blog on Bayern v Arsenal which you can keep up to date with:
Here is a round up of the results from the games that have already taken place today:
Como 4-1 Man Utd
Lille 2-4 Galatasaray
David Raya says he does not care if rival supporters call Arsenal “boring” as his manager, Mikel Arteta, insisted that critics of the team’s style were only a “very small minority”.
Arsenal made it 10 wins out of 11 in all competitions for the season when they beat Nottingham Forest 1-0 at the City Ground on Sunday. But it was a day when Noni Madueke’s late goal papered over a flat and one-paced performance. Arteta admitted his players had to be better in attacking terms and the discussion over how they are able to get the job done has tracked them to Germany where they face Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
A scoreline that might come as a shock to some is playing out right now, Como are beating Manchester United 4-0. You can keep up to date with the end of that one here:

The shot sailed wide of Peter Gulacsi’s top corner and into the Kop, affording Villarreal much-needed respite at 4-2, but for Andoni Iraola it was a standout moment in a scintillating Champions League display from Rio Ngumoha. To a coach that called for versatility from all of his wingers this summer, here was a significant step forward among many from the 18-year-old at Anfield.
There were questions over how Ngumoha would adapt to playing on the right even before Liverpool increased the likelihood by signing Bradley Barcola for £123m from Paris Saint-Germain. On his fifth start under Iraola on Tuesday, which his side ultimately won 4-3, Liverpool witnessed an answer: quickly, incisively and confidently. The teenager’s willingness to cut inside from the right and shoot from distance with the left foot captured Iraola’s imagination as much as the devastating run that created Alexis Mac Allister’s second goal of the game.
Here is what happened yesterday in the competition:
